How can a believer in Jesus practically pursue becoming more holy?

I’m so glad that I can’t try to conjure up being holy. By God’s grace, the Holy Spirit has been given us—indwelling us when we believe in Jesus and receive salvation. As I yield to the His work in my life, study God’s Word, and pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), the ongoing work of holiness continues. So grateful for the work of the Holy Spirit!

with my own intellect alone, it is always a pain deciphering the words “be holy”. I always say, and feel, and imagine, “being holy” is practically and profoundly IMPOSSIBLE.
But as a Christian, I always have to remind myself that I do not have to think and perceive things using my ‘own’ intellect alone (‘coz by doing so, things will drive me to deep confusion). True, it is the work of the Holy Spirit. That in Christ I am made righteous no matter how I feel or what I feel. That He is my holiness. But there’s an ACTIVE action item for me here.
Resist the devil, pray hard. If you fall, stand up. Repent. If you fall again, stand up again. Repent. I know in this world I will never evade temptations. But striving to be holy is still way better than giving in and later on suffer the consequences of an empty, Godless life

To become practically more holy, I believe that regularly reading God’s Word (alone and with others), be aware and repent of our sin, and pray alone and with others for the Holy Spirit’s guidance to live our lives according to His teachings. These are what i am constantly reminding myself to do. When i am caught in a conflict or temptation to remember to pause and pray about it before i act. I am still working on them. I believe when we learn to make the effort it will eventually becomes a good habit we will never want to give up.
