Engedi

En gedi

Like David, some days it seems like we’re being chased in the hot Judean desert by the Sauls of our lives. We’re afraid, hot, thirsty, lonely, and uncertain. And then, in the middle of this desert place in our lives, God brings us to “En gedi,” a consistent stream of refreshing and cool water. For the believer, our En gedi is the constant, refreshing stream of God’s Word. I can imagine when David came to this place, he didn’t just dip his toe in this water—he probably immersed himself in it. So, we must never be satisfied with dipping our toes in God’s Word; we must immerse ourselves in it, letting it become a refreshing stream of the joy and rejoicing of our hearts.
