I sit in my office each morning where bay windows look out to the backyard. It’s early.. and quiet.. and where I have my daily Bible study to start my day. I look out on beautiful trees, a lush green yard and listen to the birds chirping happily. I also go to the beach early evening, when crowds have gone home to fix dinner and bask in the rhythmic sound of waves surging onto the beach and sink my toes in soft-white sand as the pinks, oranges, blues and yellow of clouds display their splendor at the sinking of the sun. It is calming and reaffirming. How could this be anything but God.
I feel this world has gone sick and so to the people out there are suffering. I know there is a need of miracle to be done by God. Whatever is not be able to change by us, and we know God will able to help us.
lindagma,
I really feel jealous of where you live. You know sometimes I will think and imagine how heaven looks like, I think the place will be how you described there. And i think will be much more beautiful and peaceful over there.
If we really take the time to stop and look and listen to God’s creation – inspiring, intricate, grand! All for us to enjoy! Most recently the changing of the color of the leaves – breathtaking! It seems that when we stop long enough to look, all of creation shouts Creator!! I stand amazed and and in awe!!
Looking closely at the things that God has created has helped me to know Him better. Looking closely at my cat’s fur shows me that He pays attention to details, that He has carefully chosen the colors of each strand of her fur. The differences in even the colors of my two cats shows me that God likes variety and beauty and that He loves to create new things all the time. He is our Creator and he has carefully crafted each one of us down to the finest details. Psalm 139:13-14 I also live in a country setting like lindagma however God’s handywork is also visible in a city if you look at the things He created. Luke 12:7 Watch the birds – look closely at the trees- look up at the sky and the sun and the moon and the clouds. God and His handiwork is visible every where- look closely! Thank you Father for eyes that can see the beautiful things you have created!
In Genesis 1 God is a transcendent God. He commands creation and sees that it is “good.” God’s transcendence is conveyed by the lack of depth on how things were created, such as animals and humans. When life has been created God givens them his blessing. Therefore, everything in our world is blessed by God and we known that everything is special. In Genesis 1 God is omnipotent and omniscient. Because of this we are unable to fully understand God’s work, this may be a reason for why this chapter lacks detail and moves through the first six days quickly.
In Genesis 2 and 3 God is an immanent God. This chapter starts with the seventh day. This shows that on the seventh day God was able to be closer to his creations by not working, and that we can be closer to God. This chapter goes into greater detail about creation. Unlike chapter one God creates with his hands and does not command. God also breathed life into man and the animals. God creates for the man the garden of Eden, animals, and woman. The beauty of the garden allows man to see how God cares about him and the world. This is the beauty of God. God places two trees in the middle of the garden, one of which is the tree of knowledge from with man and women eat the fruit. When man and women were created they were not ashamed of their nakedness. When they ate the fruit, that God told them not to, they became ashamed and hid. God is omnipresent, so why hide. Even though God knows were they are he plays with them by calling out, “Where are you?” God shows compassion for the man and woman by not killing them and giving them clothes, but they are banished from the garden and given burdens. Even by eating from the tree of knowledge man and woman are not on the same level of Gods knowledge. Making us unable to fully understand God’s meanings. This separation is responsible for our inability to comprehend God. In these chapters we can see that God is above creation but engaged and concerned with what he created.
Another way of looking at God’s creation is through Gnosticism. According to this creation is flawed by the creator’s lack of knowledge. In Gnosticism Sophia myth represents the story of creation. This myth poses that God and the world are imperfect. This is problematic for Christian theology.
Lastly is evolution. Biological evolution is decent with modification on a small-scale and large-scale evolution. Unlike in Genesis 1 and 2 where man is over animals evolution states that man is not “higher” or “more evolved” than any other creature. According to evolution everything is descendent from a common ancestor. Evolution helps us understand the history of life. In the duration of life humans have existed for a very small about of time. If you condensed evolution into a minute humans would exist is the final .002 second. In the bible there are accounts were the story differs, for example Genesis 1 and 2. However, evolution cannot prove how the world was created. God’s creation could have been a jumpstart for evolution, with some modifications.

I’m not sure but seeing many things in the world has caused me to believe that there must be a God.
