As scientists continue to search the universe for other planets that possess the right resources and conditions to sustain life, what gives you confidence that God is the creator and sustainer of life on earth?

I think is because of the miracle that happened to us in life…

A beautiful sunrise… a beautiful sunset… leaves turning green in the spring…leaves turning colors in the fall…God’s hand greets us in nature every day. And… if you can dismiss all of that, consider the miraculous way our body works. Our DNA is coded into every cell of our body and is unique to each of us. Not something that could happen through a process of evolution… and a new born baby comes into this world, equipped with all of it… perfect in every way… he knit us in the womb. There is no explaining away such a miracle except a loving heavenly father.

When I was studying the brain in graduate school, the more I learned about how it works, the more convinced I became that there is no way this intricate mass of cells that allows us to see, speak, hear, imagine, understand, and love – among many other things – could have just happened through evolution. The way neurons migrate to the cortex during development and arrange themselves in neat layers – and the fact that those layers come out right in the millions born daily is absolutely amazing. Only God could do it. The fact that He did it in me is one more piece of evidence that He loved me even before I was born!

Amen to that glbrosnan! I truly do not get how anyone studies deeply into the intricacies of life or the universe and yet does not come to the following conclusion: “Wow … I stand in humbled awe at Your amazing creation LORD. I am unworthy, completely undone, and I am so sorry that I have ever doubted You if even for a second. You are worthy of my praise with every breath and fibre of my being!”

I am convinced that God is the creator and sustainer of life because the evidence is all around us every day. It is His power that allows the sun to rise and shine so brilliantly each morning, He designed the water cycle, our respiratory system, our circulatory system, the intricacy of our skin, the regrowth of hair and countless other things. Man may be able to design products that claim to enhance all or some of the above, but it is God who designed them all? The unique functions of the liver, the pancreas, the bladder,
photosynthesis, the structure of rocks……….Saving Grace that changed my outlook, my attitude along with so many other things I would not be able to stop. It just boils donw to one fact.
GOD IS THE ULTIMATE CREATOR AND SUSTAINER OF LIFE ON EARTH AND ANYWHERE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER.

Often, science and rational thought are posited as being diametrically opposed to faith in God or Creation as being a reasonable explanation for the origins of life and the existence of the universe. So we, as believers, are automatically excluded from any intelligent discussion regarding origins or we are set up as a “straw man” to poke fun at and show how illogical we are (almost as if there were no other way of “knowing” than the scientific method). However, science and the rational human mind have thus far failed to create life—oh, we can generate some pretty cool stuff working with materials that were already there—and science has failed to make something spontaneously come into existence from nothing. So, if you follow rational thought and the scientific method at all, where is your proof? Who should be excluded from the discussion? Who has failed? My God is an amazing, artistic Creator who can do all of the above and more! He created all that we see, the fact that we can see, and He created each of us uniquely and loves us all equally with a reckless love that knows no end. It grieves His heart that some of His creatures have blinded themselves to the truth and it is His desire that all would come to know and to love Him for His glory!! One day LORD …
