Treat others (your spouse) as you want to be treated. Remember that when you married your spouse, he or she didn’t become your child, nor did you become the parent.

Good thoughts, exhilira! A marital relationship can become unhealthy when a spouse tries to get from the other what only God can give—elevating them to a role they cannot possibly live out, or a spouse can begin to disrespect and no longer honor the other, destroying their relationship. Praise God that there is a much better path—to mutually love and serve God, finding in Him perfect love and our true identity, and then loving each other in the power of His love!
