Hello my dear Brothers & Sisters,
What a wonderful question, one that seems to me, to be so appropriate for the times that we are living in right now. For me, the main reason that I want to share my faith in the One True Lord and Savior, is so that people will not perish without knowing Jesus. If they don’t know of Him and what it means to have a living relationship with Him, they will be condemned to spend eternity in utter darkness and agony. I can’t bear the thought of seeing a person and knowing that they have not heard of Jesus Christ, or turned their back on Him, thereby sentencing themselves to an eternity of separation from His salvation and love. I myself, came to a deep living relationship with Christ at a later time of my life, 61 years old, and I would truly desire to see someone give their life to Jesus at a much earlier age. This would give them so much more time in their life to enjoy a relationship with our Lord, which in turn would give them that many more years and opportunities to aid others in asking Jesus to come into their lives, to live in His warmth and light. That’s my main motivation, but I also have 2 sons in their 30’s and a 2 1/2 yr old grand daughter, all of whom I long for one thing in their lives. Know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. So that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it!
Thanks, Gary! I so appreciate you sharing your story. The passion and love you have Jesus and others shines through your words. Praying for your precious family members—may they find the joy and hope you have found in Christ. And, yes, a clear reason to share our faith is out of loving concern for those around us. May God give us His compassion for those who don’t know Him!
Hello Brother Tom,
Thank you so much for your encouraging comment. You have made other comments on postings/comments I have made and you are always uplifting and encouraging. In this day and age, that is a trait that is in very short supply, so often people will criticize and be judgmental rather than rather than positive/uplifting/encouraging with their words. I am living in Tianjin, China and all of the time I’m out in the busy, crowded city, I see so many people who I know more than likely have never had any exposure to a loving God such as we serve and know. I look at them and my heart feels sad, because unless someone reaches them, they will perish for eternity. Yet how do we reach so many? I used to feel completely overwhelmed with this, but after prayer and time in communion with Jesus, I now feel all I can do is to extend the loving hands of Christ to those I do come in contact with more intimately. That holds especially true for my two sons and grand daughter. We just do the best we can, practice obedience and leave all of the consequences to God.
I’m motivated to share with others because I thought of when I was lost to the word but I know now that God always had his eyes on me. As most of us had turned to Jesus when a tragedy had occurred or when we were in our “pits” of despair in life. Well, because of my early morning despair, I turned my life over to Christ. I just don’t want someone to be in their pit before they seek Christ. As I take a look back,, metaphorically speaking, in my life and I realize there were people speaking to me all the time but I wasn’t ready to listen…Now, my friends and family do see a new creature in me and I am not afraid to share His goodness with them. We do not know the day, time nor the hour of His return but He will return and the trumpets will be loud and clear. the Holy Spirit whispered to me to share the gospel with someone and I did not obey then I have committed a sin. Our obedience is the difference between a soul being saved or lost… I, too, was lost and I am thankful that I said yes to his invitation. Any opportunity that I am given to share my faith with my little space in this big ‘ol world I gladly to stand in the name of Jesus and share the good news.
Thanks for sharing, aweston. You’re right, so often we must enter a pit or dark time to see our need for Jesus. He brings hope to the hopeless and life to those who are dead in their sins. May we open our eyes to those around us today—being prepared to share God’s Good News with them!
Knowing and experiencing the one true and living God motivate me to share my faith with others.
I come from a family who were idol worshippers but they have now become believers. Though prayers were not immediately answered, I believe God has a time for each of them I prayed for. If it wasn’t God, I would never have the influence to convert them. I have been very fortunate to have accepted Jesus Christ as my saviour when I was twelve. And, it was through a Girls’ Brigade camp when I was told about the Gospel in a way that helped me realised who God is and His love for me. There were many times I had strayed from God’s path but He is always there to provide His divine protection over me. In 2 Timothy 2:13 it says “If we are unfaithful, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny who His is.” In my years as a Christian, God truly was there for me despite the folly in my youth and the lure of the world.
God is full of grace and mercy for us that He died on the cross for our sin, His resurrection proves He is a living God, my own experiences and to obey His call to share the gospel to all in Matthew 28:19-20, these motivate me to share my faith with others.
GChoo, thanks for sharing. I love how you’ve accurately portrayed the path to sanctification as filled with ups and downs. But praise God that He continues to work in and through us!
