I would like to improve and grow in the area of prayer. I love reading the bible and do several daily devotionals and studies but when I pray my mind wanders. I will start to pray about something and it will spark memories or questions and off my mind goes. Sometimes I write my prayers out and it still happens but not for such wild tangents.
I was told once that if I pray silently Satan cannot hear it. Only God has that ability. But if I write it Satan can see it,too. I feel that he really tries to attack me when I am close to the Lord.
pampauley65, may God bless you in your prayer life. I love what Jesus said of Satan: “He has no power over me” (John 14:30). Yes, Jesus’ power is greater than the evil one and his attacks. Praying for you, Jesse. May these words from the apostle Paul encourage you today: “My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). Take it one day at a time, trusting in God and seeking godly help/counsel from others.
I find that when I’m trying to become disciplined in my prayer life, I have to take baby steps. I start praying for one minute at a time and refuse to let my mind stray for that minute. The next time I pray a little longer and find that it’s a little easier to stay focused. God blesses our time with Him-whether it’s in short spurts or long ones-and will teach us His truths as we try to seek Him.
THE ONE AREA THAT I WOULD LIKE TO IMPROVED IN MY GROWTH TO HAVE A BETTER SPIRITUAL LIFE IS MAKING A SOLID DESITION WHETHER ITS IN GODS WILL TO STAY MARRIED TO A NONBELIEVER WHO DOES NOT CHANGE THEIR WAYS BUT TAKES ADVANTAGE TO THE FACT THAT IM A BELIEVER.
I too am married to a non-believer. I have been praying for my spouse for 19 years.
I came to the decision years ago that I could only get divorced if my spouse wanted to leave. Otherwise, I was supposed to stay married. God’s word says, in 1Cor 7:15, But if the unbeliever leaves, let it be so. The brother or the sister is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace.
I also believe that if you are being physically harmed or put in danger, you should leave.
You must go before the King and be sure He wants you to divorce – and be sure it is not just your will, but His.

Dsmendez,
I too am married to a non-believer.

I will pray for you.
