My top motivation in life is what God says it is. I try to live by what God wants me to do. Doesn’t always work, but it is my motivation. If affects the way I live by asking myself, will this please God? I fail more than I succeed, but I do try.
Thanks peg this is also my motivation which is trying to lead my children and grandchildren to the Lord. I’m not always successful but God’s word leads me to help myself and the rest of my family.
Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
….that’s my only motivation. It’s my guiding verse in how I interact with people and live my life. God is so amazing, why wouldn’t I want to live only for Him? He is my Abbah, my Father, my everlasting Love 🙂
I would have to say God is my top motivation. I was in a breaking point in my life last year but thank God he got me out of it. Because of him, im the person that he wanted me to be. Thank u Jesus!
freexone, I’m so glad God gave you what you needed to make it through. I’ve been there—and it’s amazing to experience the reality of what He said: “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Beings I have been struggling with an autoimmune disease for eight years, the Lord has given me a new occupation— Prayer. It’s what motivates me. It has changed my life, given me a purpose, a reason to keep going. I see prayers answered and I get excited! That God would choose to answer the prayers of a peon like me is awesome indeed!!
shadowboxcat, your example is truly inspiring! Instead of reflecting on your medical challenge, you have embraced God’s plan for your life and have become a true pray warrior! (Not a peon!)
My greatest motivation is my weaknesses. It is when I’m helpless, I prayed a lot everywhere. His indeed sovereign God, my refuge, my strength & my portion forever. Glory to Him.
Pleasing God…as others have said. I have to know Him and His word in order to know what is pleasing to God. I don’t always live up to my desire however, I keep it in the forefront of my mind by posting reminders everywhere.
First time on the site, and as I read this it made me question what my motivation is right now, which is a great question to stop and think about when you live in a life of constant go, go, go. So I’ve concluded that my motivation has been finding peace, and quiet times, and I’ve been searching hard, but realizing that I haven’t been going to God for that. I can now refocus my attention to where I should be looking for my motivation. This question was very eye opening.
My motivation every day is keeping my eye on the prize; the Kingdom of Heaven; beholding God in all His glory. I find it overwhelming at times when I let my imagination see beyond this world. When I behold the beauty of creation with all its spectacular colors, sounds and smells then I feel really alive. To me this is a taste of Heaven, and when life turns in another direction I know my greatest reward lies beyond this world. Helping my children and grandchildren see the bigger picture beyond what the world has to offer is a daily motivation in itself.
I agree with “m”: this is an excellent, thought-provoking question. Naturally, “to please God” is wonderful motivation for our lives, but since I’m one of those people who is always trying to please and placate everyone, it is too easy for me to confuse pleasing God with attempting to earn God’s love.
For me, trying to be the person God wants me to be right now, and remembering that it is Christ in me that pleases Him, is my goal.
Staying in the Word, prayer, and fellowship with other Christians is the method.
Most of the time, my motivation is pleasing God but i must confess that i do get distracted. At times, my motivation shifts to pleasing people or earning their respect. I guess that is why God doesn’t answer some of my prayers because i simply ask for the wrong reasons at times but it’s good to know God is not a genie.
I have been self employeed for 10 years. I used to worry about making money on the jobs we take. Recently God taught me that all I need to do is honor him in my work and delite the customer with the finish product. The money will take care of it self. So my modivation is to worship God though my work and in the business I manage for Him. It is not easy doing this because my self wants to take control and worry about everything. It is a daily submission. Sometime I get it and sometimes at the end of the day I ask for forgiveness. I guess that’s why I need a Savior!
Sharon, God can certainly use our past to His glory. I’m so glad, however, that He forgives us when we repent and He will “never again remember [our] sins” (Hebrews 8:12). Yes, we all need to avoid “Camp Sin.” Let’s camp out in His Word instead! 🙂

Good thoughts, peg. Our obedience reveals our love for Him (John 14:15). Like you, I’m hoping to show Him my love today!

I am motivated by God’s love for all humanity. Knowing what it cost Jesus to redeem us keeps me constantly striving to trust and obey Him.

Thanks for this thought, loida. You’re so right, when we fall before God in humility and brokenness, He can then use us to His glory!

csev, great perspective on our work! Our labor can truly be a an act of worship to God—revealing His glory and our trust in Him!
