17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
One could look at it through Jesus’ eyes when he spoke to the prostitute, when he broke bread with the tax collector and so much more. What Jesus had then and what he has for all of us now is compassion. He NEVER judged us nor does he judge us now. He longs to have a relationship with us. I can’t judge everyone, but I have a sneaking suspicion that not everyone would say hello to the local transient, or have breakfast with a prostitute, yet that is exactly what he has asked us to do. Our only purpose is to feed his sheep. He longs to see us mirror his image.
It’s like the silversmith (and I’m sure most of you have heard the story), as he continues to dip the silver into the fire and bring it out each time to look at it, the observer asks him, “when will it be finished”? He replys, “when I can see myself”.
