How has your time in prayer changed over the years?

That question is very simple to answer. Patience. At the age of fifty two, I am more patient with my prayers than when I was a younger person. I spend more time in prayer, and have a more “personal” relationship with God. My prayers have become less formal, taking on more of a conversation than a set structure of words. I am also more patient with waiting for my prayers to be answered, too. I know that sometimes the answer to a prayer is no, and I am much more accepting of that response now that I’m an older person. But I also know that it can take years to have a prayer answered. And that’s fine by me, for then I know that with a little patience, I have proof that God is truly hearing my words. Thanks for sharing, jessie1. I’ve found these things to be true for me as well. The ability for God to move mountains and heal and do anything continues to cause me to pray with great expectation. Over the years, however, I’ve also learned more clearly that God is God and it is my role to humbly submit to His will and decisions.

I learned as a teen that it’s okay just to talk with God because of David’s example. I’ve never been too formal. I guess my prayer has become even more causal and just an open conversation throughout the day with periods of intercession and praise. It used to be more formal with a start and end. Now, I see my self as constantly in prayer.
