The people of Japan are on our hearts and minds as they continue to battle the effects of a devastating natural disaster. Write down a prayer for them and for those striving to help them, and members of the ODJ community will pray along with you.

Lord, I pray that you would restore Japan, and not let the effects of the earthquake, tsunami, and breaking down at the nuclear plant be so overwhelming that they cannot be handled. I also pray that in the face of all this destruction and anguish, the people will not lose their hope, but rather that their faith would be renewed. Amen.

Our dear heavenly Father, we earnestly pray that you will comfort those who have lost their loved ones and give peace of mind to those who are suffering and in pain.
May you give wisdom to the Japanese government to provide and protect those affected areas. May your protective hands be over the medical, military, foreign and charity aid groups and the many volunteers who are putting their lives out there to help those in need.
Trusting the people who are in Japan in Your hands. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Heavenly Father, we come to your throne of grace and fall down at your feet to worship you—our great God who created the Heavens and the earth. We praise you for the awesome works of your hands which set the boundaries for the sea. We thank you for your love that you showed by sending your one and only Son into this world to save us from our sins so we might live through Him.
Dear Lord, our spirits are heavy as we lift up in prayer the people of Japan. If there is any place and time we need you most, then it is in these cruel calamities that suddenly rise to strike the innocent dead. We don’t even know how people will cope with this massive loss of precious lives. It breaks our hearts to see pictures of people in shock as they search for loved ones among the rubble.
Strengthen the hands and feet of those who are helping the needy through this difficult situation. We pray that food, medicine and other supplies may easily and quickly reach those seeking protection in the shelters. Watch over the babies, children, weak, sick the suffering and those who care for them. Let your peace still the storms of aftershocks, radiation, cold weather and other possible Tsunamis threatening to drown and destroy life.
May every grieving heart be comforted to know this that you keep track of all their sorrows, you collect every tear into your bottle and record each agony in your book. Hear and attend to the painful cries rising from their hurting hearts. May all souls look to you and be saved.
You are a sovereign God full of tender mercies and loving kindness. Surely you will have compassion to restore all that they have lost and will help them rebuild the ruins. Even in all of this evil staring them right in the face, make them to see the goodness of your hands providing for those who have survived. In this dark and gruesome hour, cause your face to shine upon our Japanese friends as we reach out to help them with our resources.
And for those of us who are confused and wonder where God is in all this, may we be reminded that not a sparrow or a single hair of our heads falls to the ground without your knowledge. As we helplessly look at the devastation being shown in the news help us be mindful of your power that is mightier than the violent raging of the seas and the thunderous breakers that crash on the shores. We know that you are the one who controls the proud wall of waves and commands they come this far and no farther.
Oh God, forgive us our sins. Help us with our unbelief. We are so fearful and our faith is weak but you are strong and able. May we learn to always trust you in all times for everything. Thank you for the wonderful hope that you will create all things anew—a new Heaven and earth but there will be no sea. Please, accept our praise and listen to our prayers as we humbly pour it out in the blessed name of your Son who is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Dear Lord,
You are the source of our strength, a very present help in time of trouble. We pray your strength will be with the rescue workers in Japan as they search for survivors amongst the rubble. As they exhaust their natural strength, dear Lord, please fill them with your strength to enable them to help their countrymen. We pray that your great grace will cover the Japanese nation at this time, that you will work out your perfect purposes for each soul, that your Name will be exalted over that nation and that your love and comfort will be their portion as they mourn. In Jesus name, Amen.

God, please feed the hungry, heal the wounded, comfort those in trouble, in Japan!
But it’s just a temporary measure and it has no long term meaning, so let it be the way to show your glory so everyone would look up to you and praise you!
Help them open their eyes and follow your Son!
Your kingdom come!

Father, I come to you in prayer tonight and lift up the victims in Japan and their families to You. We pray that you will continue to hold them in your arms of protection always. We pray peace in their lives in the midst of this storm. Lord Your word says:
If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
Lord I am calling out to you to rescue your children in there time of need. In Jesus name Amen!

God,
You know this trouble.
You know this pain.
You are there, in the middle of it.
But, truthfully, in these moments, I ask why.
I think you can handle my questions.
Please have mercy on these our neighbors.
Please help rescuers to find survivors.
Please stop the reactor from causing more damage.
Please be strong here.
Amen.

Heavenly Father GOD, we come before your Throne of Grace in Name of our Lord and, Savior, Jesus Christ. In His Name, Father, we lift up before YOU those who have survived the crisis in Japan and, ask that YOU bless them with all that they need, spiritually, physically, emotionally and, mentally. We ask that YOU bless them with the Peace of Jesus, that YOU may be glorified in the midst of this tragedy. We lift up before YOU, Father GOD, those who are risking their own lives to assist those who have survived and, to search for those who are lost. Praise YOUR Holy Name, in the Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and, Savior. Let all of my brother-and-sisters-in-Christ Jesus say… AMEN!

Lord of heaven and the earth, we thank You that You are a God who is holy and righteous and at the same time merciful and gracious. Your Mercies are new every morning and they triumph over judgement. Your judgement tarries for You desire that none should perish but that all will come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
We now stand with the believers in the land of Japan – for the sake of the faithful and for those who have yet to hear the good news of the saving grace of Jesus Christ, we ask that You preserve this country from further destructions for You are slow to anger and abounding in love. Fill the empty hearts of the Japanese people with Your love and the hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ. In such a time as this, we ask that the Sun of Righteousness will rise and shine upon this land. Let there be radical repentance and turning away from sins and let there be only godly sorrow that produces life. Let your Church arise to action and let the fragrance of the knowledge of Jesus Christ flow in this land this day forth I pray in Jesus’ name, AMEN.

Angela, of course you may 🙂 It is a prayer that resonates from all our hearts. If God’s willing, I would love to visit Sri Lanka some day. The formation of my personal faith in Christ during my teenage years was greatly influenced by a servant of God—Bro. Neville Jayasundara, Christian Fellowship Center, Colombo. One of the churches planted by them was swept away in the tsunami of 2004. If you needed any spiritual help, please feel free to call them: Ph#: 94 112581901.
Thank you for your prayer for me. It was much needed. May God bless you and give you all the desires of your heart (Ps 37:4).
