My husband and I saw Fireproof last weekend. Great movie that demonstrates how unconditional love can actually be played out in a marriage. I loved how the Kirk Cameron character hung in there, even when he was discouraged by a lack of response from his wife. Every marriage starts with two flawed individuals–but real joy comes when the husband and wife commit themselves to each other and to God. When there’s less defensiveness and self-protection, a relationship is able to grow.
I just saw the movie fireproof, and that movie was very touching. There is so many words to describe this movie, but one thing that came about to me is when things go wrong in our lives the only thing we could do is PRAY…..
Can’t agree more. I was moved by FIreproof. It made me to look into my own heart and consider what unholy desires I may be feeding. Satan truly tempts us at our points of weakness and vulnerability.
Speaking of that, another movie that spiritually impacted me—surprisingly—was The Dark Knight. The Joker was pure evil, twisting everything good to place people in dark and difficult places. The character was a representation of the Evil One, who twists what’s good to lead us astray. I’m so glad we Jesus shines the light of truth into our hearts and into our lives.
I really enjoyed Gran Torino. This movie addressed the ignorance behind racism, religion and the neglect and disrespect of the elderly. It also showed how one gave His life for the good of another. I have to say it was bigotry to the Nth degree but the story line really helped me think of how my walk with the Lord needed to improve so that I would be able to bring people to Christ rather than push them away. You know like walking the talk.
My husband and I recently saw “Beyond the Gates” about the genocide in Rwanda. A reminder of the consequences of human depravity, movies like these leave me asking, “What would I have done if in that place?”
“Four Feathers” is not a recent one we’ve seen, but it’s one that has stayed with me. It defines courage and integrity as attached to action and apart from any romantic ideas.
I, too, enjoyed “Fireproof” (Facing the Giants is one of my all-time favorites). But I think I’m also a little partial to Georgia movie makers!
