Which Bible translation do you use the most? Why?

I use NIV because it speaks to me in a way I understand. I was raised with the King James Version, and I must admit the language in it was foreign and confusing, and didn’t seem to to allow me to connect to the Bible in a personal way the way NIV does. I think your choice in a Bible version is a personal one, and there is no right or wrong choice. It should be a personal decision, just like your relationship with God and Jesus Christ.

Good thoughts, jessie1. I used to use the NIV, a very good translation, but now use the NLT out of preference. As you said, finding the right translation is a personal decision.

I agree with you Jessie 1 that the NIV is my preferred version of the Bible to read. I feel it is easy to read, understand and is a reliable and well researched translation. It is the version which is normally used in my Church. Personally, I cannot relate to The Message Bible because it is a bit too trendy in terms of language and style for my liking. However, when trying to understand some of Paul’s theology it can be enlightening in how things are put. The most important thing is to find a Bible version which you can personally relate to and most importantly want to read and look forward to doing so. The content is the same whichever version is read and is one of God’s ways of communicating with us.

gillian, I definitely appreciate the different translations and paraphrased Bibles available to us today. As we read and study Scripture using different versions it often helps us gain greater insight into a passage and greater understanding of it. Thanks for sharing!
