Our hearts and prayers are with the people of Norway. In light of the horrific events they experienced, what are the differences between the “religious” beliefs of the madman who cruelly took so many lives and an authentic faith in Jesus?

John 13:35 “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Great verse, zero_g! The wanton destruction of human life goes against God’s character and His Word.

authentic faith in Jesus means offering your life to Jesus & doing God’s works.. by sharing His love to others. I think the madman’s claims of his Christianity heavily lies in his own will and seeking for his own glory. Promoting violence for Christ’s sake will never show and prove a genuine faith.

Excellent insight, lizet. The horrific actions of this man were cruel and selfish, not the selfless, humble type of behavior that Jesus modeled for us (see Philippians 2:5-11).

We cannot see inside this mans mind. When we think back to the attrocities done by the church such as the Crusades, the witch hunting, etc. what this man did is small in comparison. He did not burn them or crucify them. Of course what he did is wrong, no one has the right to take anothers life for whatever reason. Even Jesus said that if we are angry in our heart God judges it as murder. But let us get it in proportion, Jesus tells us not to judge, have we not planks in our own eye. What is really in your heart when you talk about a Muslim, etc. Let God be the judge and let us walk in love.

I believe that we should not judge (Luke 6:42). However, when we see a fellow christian is doing something not in accordance to God’s teaching, we must point that out to them in love (Luke 17:3-4). And to pray for them that God will help them to see the truth of His Word and not be misled by their own or other’s interpretation. This scripture applies to all situations, not just with our family or own friend’s situation.
May we continue to walk in God’s Spirit. And, may God’s comforting hands and peace be with the people in Norway.

What is the difference having God in your Heart or in your mind
patrickh1 on July 30, 2011 at 1:14 pm
There is a big difference because if you God into Heart it means you want God to take over your Life and follow his way of life. Up until Feb of 2005 I was fellowing my head and it brough me nothing but sadness
