It’s vital for me because attending services gets me energized for the coming week, and being part of a church body reminds me that I’m not an island – I am meant to be in community with other believers.
Before Jesus left this earth His prayer for us was “may they be ONE just as I and the Father are one”. He also calls us a body joined together by the holy spirit. And when He returns He is coming to a bride. How could we be ONE if we do not meet together. The first church met together DAILY!!! We are also to represent God on earth. God is ONE a family Father, son and Holy Spirit. how can we be the family of God if we don’t meet together. Equally the world will see that we are His disciples by the way we love one another. What sort of love can it be if we do not share and meet together. It is NOT an option.
If you take a single coal out of the fire it will cease to burn and grow cold. The same is true of Christians who do not fellowship.
From my own experience in the past, i believe it is important to be a part of a church body.
At one point In my younger days, i believed that going to church would not make me a better christian. After going to church for a while, i was not happy with the ways some of my fellow christians behaved and decided that i would be better off reading the bible on my own. However, i was proved wrong in that i was eventually straying from God’s path and worshipping Him only on special dates Easter and Christmas. Along the way, i made alot of mistakes that have hurt myself and others. Thankfully it wasn’t deadly mistakes. Despite of my ignorance or disobedience, i am grateful to God for His continued blessings and protection. I was just a so called christian.
Now i believe in being a part of a church body and importantly a church who is constantly focused on God and the work of His ministry. One who is not only concerned for the growth of their members but reaching out to their community and further away. A church who is always walking in the Spirit will ensure members to be taught about God’s Love, Compassion and His righteousness but also the immoral things of the world that will lead us away from God. Know that there will always be conflicts betweeen people, it is how we learn to sort them out in the way God teaches us to do that we will grow in His grace and mercy.
Worship, fellowship, prayers, communion and concern for one another besides knowing God’s Word are very important as a christian. God is a God of Relationship. It is not only just with Him, but with ourselves and others. Being a christian does not stop at only accepting Jesus Christ as our personal saviour and Lord. This is only the first step to us being back to God, our creator. We need to be a ‘practising christian’ and not just a christian because in the Bible, God had indicated in a number of scriptures the importance of doing His work and be not hearers only (James 1:23-24). It is NOT easy to follow God’s teaching especially we are fallen in nature. However, when we belong to a church body, we can show our love with prayer and support one another besides listening and reading God’s Word but also to be filled with the Holy Spirit regularly so that we are always walking in the Spirit. God bless.
It’s important to be a part of the body of Christians. The bible also says to not give up meeting with one another as some are in the practice of doing.
So…guess that’s good enough for me.
It is vital because we as believers do need the community provided by other believers. We cannot remain holy, if we are separated from other body of believers.
It is vitally important for me to attend church beause it is God’s commandment to:
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens. Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. Give unto the LORD, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
Hebrews 10:24-25; Psalm 96:5-7 King James Version (KJV)
Also, to be in God’s ark of safety through corporate anointing and to learn of His ways. God promised that they who worship Him in the beauty of His holiness in His house shall never be disappointed and that we shall lack no good thing when we walk uprightly before Him.
Serve the Lord with gladness of heart in all meekness and sobriety.
What is a church? Is not a community of believers a church? In the age of technology what constitutes “local”, especially when borders seemed defunct.
Having said that I do believe in corporate worship because Jesus Christ said when 2 or 3 are gathered I am in their midst.
I have just finished Hebrews. And Paul mentioned several times that it is a duty of christians to encourage each other. Not just when it is convenient but regularly if not constantly.
The early church is all about community; a coming together to pray and worship. So if I were to take the cue from there. If corporate worship is not a big deal, then I would think that it would have been far safer for the early church to stay indoors and just do their personal worship. But that was not how it was. The early church risked their lives to come together in its locality for corporate worship and I also believe to uplift and encourage each other.
So if the early came together to commune and worship at the risk of their lives, should we not too? Especially since we don’t have to brave the dangers that they faced in coming together to form a church.
The long and short of it, yes it is important to be a part of a local church to build and uplift it for God’s glory.

Life is tough, our brothes and sisters in Christ enourage us in our walk with Christ.
