Ringing in the New Year is sacred to me in terms of my witness for Christ. As I see more and more people who I feel need to see a witness and testimony for God, it’s up to me with God’s help to be that witness and testimony each day going forward in this New year.
Celebrating the New Year 2012 is the most rewarding and experiency the most intimate presence with My Father, Forever loving God who I so dearly love. Allowing My Father take control this next year, I find myself looking to him every morning and during the day for his guidance, Oh how we must look into our lives truthfully and accept where we really are in life. My Heavenly Father I desire to change where I must grown closer to Him. Enjoying this day and reflecting back on 2011 , letting go, forgiving and to be forgiven. Search and Seeking more of God more in 2012.
The beginning of the new year is a solemn occasion for me and mine, just as it was back during Bible times.
It was on New Year’s day: Noah removed the covering of the ark and saw dried ground of a fresh world washed clean of all past sin; Moses set up the Tabernacle and the Glory of God filled the place; Hezekiah purified the temple of God and it was restored to service; Ezra arrived in Jerusalem determined to study, teach and obey the Law of the Lord; the people guided by Ezra’s instructions confessed and turned away from their sins; Ezekiel received the message that God will cause the ancient glory of Israel to revive; the sacrifice for sin was offered in Ezekiel’s vision of the New temple.
And for us, it is a time to: pause and ponder the passing away of the old… before we make a fresh start; be filled with the Holy Spirit so we can continue to radiate God’s glory while living in our earthly tabernacle; rededicate ourselves as the temple of our holy God; be restored back to an intimate prayer life and relationship with our Lord; renew our commitment to read, preach and practise God’s Word; confess and turn away from all our sins; receive a fresh revelation of God’s message and revival of our faith; and to always—always—remember the sacrifice for sin which Christ offered on our behalf.
Tonight my family plans to spend some hours of both the old and new year at the watch night service, and meditate on God’s Word along with fellow believers. My favorite part in this is to craft bookmarks with Bible promises for each of our friends and this year the numbers have increased to more than hundred. For me, there is no better way to ring in the New Year than to spend time praising and worshiping God—to observe the Lord’s Supper—to celebrate His faithfulness, goodness, loving kindness and tender mercies towards us.
As we stand at the brink of another year, let us bless the Lord and forget not all His benefits. He is the beginning and the ending, our help in the days past and our hope for healing and good health in the year to come. Happy New Year 2012!
