What does it mean for you to truly surrender to Jesus?

When I think of surrender, I think of fully submitting to Jesus and His authority. If I do this, I’ll be following Him in obedience (John 14:21).

Actually from mine understanding, our “surrenderness” is living all (THY WILL BE DONE). And this is done in the freedom of the Holy Spirit. I say this because The Spirit is the God that lives in us (EPHE. 2:22). And as God will speak to us so we listen to Him and as we continually do this we surrender. To surrender is not a finished act, it’s a continuous character. Gal. 2:19-20

Good thoughts, stephenbabs. Due to our sin nature, we will continue to need to surrender to Jesus daily!

I believe total surrender is an attitude of the heart. Whatever He gives I will accept and gladly suffer for and in His cause. It is a moment by moment walk. When I sense His leading, I submit. When I fail, I run to His arms. He has the words of life. There is no other shelter…..

Along with what has already been said I think of 2Corinthians 10:5 where it says… taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Letting Jesus reign in our thoughts and not just letting them wonder unchecked. Also Romans 8:13 and Galatians 5:25 tell us to live by the spirit. If I am truly surrendered to Jesus my focus is not on myself but on the ever growing big picture of God.

To let go of everything in us; mindset, emotions, pride, being vulnerable so God can work in us, to show us and lead us to where He wants us to go. If many of us were to let go, such as control because we don’t want to feel something outside the norm, God could work great things in our lives and those around us.

What does it mean for you to truly surrender to Jesus?
It’s a surrender that we may never fully understand but for as far as we can understand it is to let Him make us anew. When I became anew I was glad that all the bad stuff I had been was now surrendered to Him. Then I also come to find that even the Good things in me were also surrendered and that I was a completely new person. It’s a new behaviors, new mind sets, new way of doing things and new way of making decisions with the new option we receive with the surrender to become anew. It means we follow, worship, spread His good news and live as an example of Him.
