To me it means experiencing the presence of God in my life moment by moment. God came to earth, Jesus God’s Son, and He brought the Good News to us. By His sacrificial work on the cross, He has made it possible for us to experience the fullness of God’s New Covenant. By His grace I have been saved by faith and now experience His Holy Spirit dwelling within me. Praise Jesus, our Emmanuel!
Wow, this is a great question to bring up and discuss. To me, to be able to experience an ongoing all the time relationship with Jesus means everything in this life. For almost all of my 63 1/2 years here on this earth I had no real relationship with Jesus, relying instead on my own wiles and resources to figure things out. Well that didn’t work out so hot for me let me tell you. Let’s just say I messed up my life big time and only, and I mean ONLY the grace of our loving Father saved my rear end from where I was surely headed, eternal separation from His son Jesus, darkness everlasting. So everyday I can get up, get my coffee and can’t wait to get into my Bible and spend time with Jesus. He means every thing to me, because without Him I would be a lost, lonely and wandering soul. So thank you Father for your unbelievable gift of your son Jesus Christ, who I know is always with me and always will be. Merry Christmas to all brothers and sisters around this world.
Without Jesus I have no good thing!
“Emmanuel”. This name has really stood out to me this Christmas. “God with us”. Us – we mere mortals and God is with us? Jesus, co-creator of the universe (John 1:3) came into His own creation, not as some super-terrestrial being, but as a baby, bound by space and time, just as we are. He was vulnerable (what if Joseph had dropped Him? How may that have changed history?), He laughed and cried, He worked and sweated – just like you and me. Unlike the unapproachable gods man has dreamed up, Jesus became “God with us”. Awesome, wonderful, amazing. He made you and me; He knows us better than we know ourselves yet he still desires a relationship with us. God is with me every day. If these thoughts do not change my day, nothing will…
