Jeremiah and Paul are favorites for their dogged persistence in the face of universal resistance. It is incredible what both went through. Being a prophet or an apostle is glamorous after they die, and everyone wants to be one, but not while they are living: Lonely, not respected, ignored, hated, mocked, spit on, persecuted, killed. Their lives are miserable. All for the Lord.
Paul is my favorite because he has written to much of the bible. His journey is miraculous and every believer should be able to relate to some of his writings.
Jesus is my favorite but that goes without saying. Stephen comes to mind as someone taking a stand for the LORD regardless of the cost. The Samaritan who was hated by the Jews and had compassion for a stranger. Blind Bartimaeus “once I was blind now I can see” LORD may I be as strong as Stephen, as compassionate as the Samaritan and always thankful that once I was blind and now I can see.
Peter-I see myself in Him. Even though he lied about knowing Jesus, Jesus still took him back. Jesus still loved him and still wanted to use him.
Paul-His books are great lessons to learn
David-once again I can see myself in him. He was a nobody (to his family) who became a king all because of God.
I don’t know that I have one favorite. Most often it depends on where I am in life–whose journey speaks most loudly at that point would probably my favorite. There are three unconventional one, though, whom I admire.
Simeon–as he was led by the Spirit into the temple to meet the Messiah being carried in His mother’s arms.
Anna–who joined Simeon in this divine appointment and who was known for being in the temple “day and night, worshiping God with fasting and prayer” (Luke 2:37).
Nathaniel–I can’t imagine the awe he must have felt to have Jesus tell him that He had seen Nathanael before he had seen Jesus. Add to that Jesus’ description of him as a man in whom there was no guile. Priceless.
Well mine is David because he had an awesome relationship with God he wasn’t perfect but though all of life peaks and valleys, highs and lows he always remember his relationship with God was the most important thing in his life………Please Pray for me that I can do the same……….
