people or God?
I n every realm and relationship I want people to think well of me. I’m tempted to please people, especially when they give me affirmation. I can often tell if I’ve met a person’s expectations by the look on his face or the tone of her voice. But, by God’s grace, I’ll stake my claim that I’m a former addict of man’s opinion, for I believe God is greater than any pull I might feel to please others.

“Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them” (Ephesians 4:29).
Whenever you think something good, say it! Give life to those thoughts. Speak life-giving words not only to others, but to yourself and to your circumstances.

To continue working and ministering in Uganda through the nonprofit organization I launched in 2009 called Tukutana, I recently had to raise a considerable amount of funds in a short period of time. Amazingly—despite the struggling economy—after my need was shared by e-mail, the donations poured in and my entire quarterly goal was met in less than 48 hours!
