Q: How do I pray for a financial blessing? —Alicia
A: We received your note in which you asked how to pray for financial blessing. Praying to God for “financial blessing” is a lot like a child asking his father for a new bicycle. There’s nothing wrong with asking, as long as the child is willing to accept his father’s response.
God may realize that you aren’t ready for a financial blessing. He may know that you still need to learn lessons of discipline and self- control. So I would suggest praying something like this:
“Heavenly Father, if it is your will for me at this time, please bless me financially. I have serious financial concerns (list them), and don’t know how to handle them. Please give me guidance and wisdom in handling my finances.” —Dan Vander Lugt

No matter what you pray for, do not ever forget the “Thank You” part. With thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Philippians 4:6). This is how Jesus prayed: “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth…” (Matthew 11:25)
When you pray for a financial blessing with a thankful heart, it is to express your need not with greed but gratitude. To thank God for what He has done and is about to do, shows that you are willing to accept whatever He decides is best for you—to have or not have the financial blessing.
Pray with a clean heart. If you have not been faithful in money matters, then seek His forgiveness. Also, examine your heart’s motive for seeking the financial blessing. Is it for self-indulgence or do you also desire to invest it in His Kingdom work?
Most importantly, regardless of the response, always be joyful and never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). How is it possible to be joyful if God chooses not to bless you financially? Be thankful for the riches of His love, mercy, goodness and grace that God has already blessed you with, in Christ Jesus.

I do not pray for a “financial blessing.”
What I pray for is use the resources God has given me, wisely. God never promised all I want. He did promise me all that I need.
Learn to be content with what you have. Phil 4:11.
It means putting pen to paper and developing a budget, and the dreaded “D” word. Discipline! That is “financial blessing.”

I have always believed you just ask! Are you really asking how do I pray for a financial blessing and have the answer be yes? That is up to God and if you trust Him it will be the best answer fit just for you.

Be specific about your request because just saying a financial blessing can mean many things and then the answer may not be that apparent to you.
