As I read the text message on my mobile phone, my temperature started to rise. My blood began to boil. I’m at my rupturing point.
“Not again! Why does he always do that?”
I was on the verge of shooting back a nasty message when an inner voice told me to cool it and reply tomorrow.
Guess what? The next morning, after a good night sleep, the issue that upset me so greatly suddenly seemed so trivial. I had blown the issue out of proportion simply because I was too lazy to seek a solution. I didn’t want to put another person’s interest before my own.
I relearned a few precious lessons from this incident:
1) “And ‘don’t sin by letting anger control you.’ Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry” (Ephesians 4:26).
2) “Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you” (Ephesians 4:32). If God were to keep count of the number of times I’ve sinned against Him, I would be totally wiped out.
These are familiar verses, but they take a lifetime of learning and relearning. Someone said, “Conversion is the miracle of the moment; maturing takes a lifetime.”
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within [us], will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns” (Philippians 1:6). Praise God. ?
