With all the people, events, and things pulling at you—vying for your attention, can you discern what’s important and what can be put on the backburner? More importantly, what is eternal and what is temporal?

Read Luke 10:38-42

Jesus was coming to Martha’s house! The Messiah, the man who had been working miracles, was on His way to her house.  Certainly, preparations had to be made for such a prestigious visitor as Him. What would you have done?  Surely some tidying up, cooking, perhaps even some channel changing—hiding certain things (Okay, I won’t go there!)—would be in order.

Martha focused on the wrong thing. But Mary sat at the Master’s feet. Martha was busy doing good, but not what was best. Sound familiar?

Teach us, Lord, to know what’s important in the light of eternity, that we might please You. Help us to focus on You, Jesus. For only You can keep us in perfect peace.  —submitted by Rodney Harrison, US
