The love that is not shared

just because we are scared

can never be compared

to the love God has bared.

Not merely compassion,

has God’s love ever been,

but true love in action—

much more than we have seen.

To the needy and rich,

we should not only preach;

what love in action is

is what we should practice.

Neither should we ever stand still

when the blind are crossing the road,

nor wait for the old to appeal

for us to help lighten their load.

More empathy than sympathy,

is what we must really show;

from now until eternity,

must God’s love always flow and grow.

Whether at the workplace or elsewhere,

love in action is beyond compare;

whether among strangers, foes or friends,

it is a true love that never ends.

A mouth unfed is a need unmet,

a thirst unquenched is like revenge:

they teach whatever they know, not just for show,

but so that their children may reap what they sow.

A complaining passion,

compassion is really not;

a comforting passion,

compassion comes straight from God.

In many ways, they are the same—

in love, with compassion, Christ came;

no real action, talk much only

is not what love is thankfully.

From generation to generation,

let our love be always full of action;

from tribe to tribe of every nation,

let our love conquer each tribulation.

That through our true love for one another,

others will be drawn to God our Father;

as more than words, our actions speak louder,

like God, His love lives and reigns forever.
