Stopped last night at a pharmacy to get medicine, My mom said, “Look who’s driving that car. I guess anyone can get a license around here!”
This is Duke. His owner Mary ended up being a kindred spirit and fellow believer in Jesus. What a fun trip the the pharmacy!
Sometimes things are not what they seem. So when something in your circumstance doesn’t make sense, it’s time to steer straight into the wisdom of the bible. Wait and allow the real situation to come to light. Some people, because they haven’t accepted Christ as their Savior, don’t have the Holy Spirit to help them and will never see and understand the truth of Scripture.
“That is why I use these parables, for they look, but they don’t really see. They hear, but they don’t really listen or understand” (Matthew 13:13).
Duke apparently only has a learner’s permit. Mary drove the car to the pharmacy! So you can’t always believe what you see, but you can always trust God for the truth.
“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see” (Hebrews 11:1).
So, What’s driving you? Your sight, or your faith?

Good one, Kathy! Luther would completely agree–he said that we must trust what we hear from God’s Word rather than what we see with our eyes. This is why preaching is so central in Protestant churches–why the pulpit is front and center rather than the Eucharist table (which often is in front of it). Protestants value the proclamation of God’s Word, for that is what enables us to really see.
