This week we’ve heard about the 4 fishermen whose boat overturned off the coast of Florida.  According to the sole survivor, 2 of the men became so despondent after battling hypothermia in the open sea that they took off their life jackets and floated away.

Such a horrific tragedy reminds of the importance of hope.  This virtue, which Paul places in the top three with faith and love (1 Cor. 13:13), is typically taken for granted until we lose it.

In this turbulent time in the world’s economy and politics, let’s not forget the content and the source of our hope.  We hope for Christ’s return, when he will resurrect our loved ones (1 Cor. 15) and restore our creation (Acts 3:21).  That is hope we can take to the bank, regardless how dark and cold it gets in the coming days.
