microphoneDuring the opening prayer at church this past weekend the sound system kept cutting in and out. Sometimes we could hear what the man leading us in prayer was saying. Sometimes we couldn’t. I could only make out half of what the guy was saying. It was all a bit distracting, but it didn’t rattle him. He simply kept on praying.

As disjointed as his prayer sounded, it occurred to me that none of it fazed God. Thankfully, a working microphone isn’t necessary for Him to hear us when we pray.

Whether we are using technology, crying out in a loud voice, or silently praying in our hearts, we can claim the same assurance David expressed in Psalm 4, “The Lord will hear when I call to him” (NIV).

It sure is good to be heard.
