I marvel at the technology of my cell phone. It fits in my hand, has no wires, and by pressing a few buttons, I can speak directly to anyone I desire anywhere in the world. I have no idea what happens in the area between my cell phone and the cell phone I am calling once I hit “SEND.” I presume that the frequencies from my phone radiate from cell tower to cell tower all the way to the destination of my call. Wow! So simple, pushing a couple of buttons . . . and yet, so complex. The monumental groundwork required to create this marvelous technology worldwide remains unseen.
Now, we all have faith in our cell phones. Webster’s Dictionary defines faith as a “complete trust” and “something that is believed especially with strong conviction.” With strong conviction, we believe and trust that our cell phones work.
Doesn’t the Bible define spiritual faith by imparting the same belief? Hebrews 11:1 states “Now faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see.” We don’t see all the technological specifics required to complete our calls, we’re just certain that through our established trust in the process, it works!
Shouldn’t our faith in God be as unquestionable as the faith we put in our cell phone? We don’t need to see all the specifics that make a cell phone work, we just trust. Do we need to see God to know that He is and that He is working? Can’t we just trust? Jesus, speaking to one of His disciples in John 20:29 said, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” Do we put more trust and belief in a cell phone than our “Maker” who created the human mind that invented it?
God invented the first communication device centuries ago that has since been forgotten by many. The device requires absolutely no external equipment. The device is called a “prayer,” and all it takes to communicate is a personal desire within your heart to know God and a direct connection is immediately established. What’s even better, once you have established your connection and personal relationship with Him, He’ll call you too! James 4:8 states, “Come near to God and He will come near to you.” The more frequent your calls to Him, the more frequent His calls to you. He promised!
Here’s a few notable excerpts from various conversations using the “prayer”:
Matthew 21:22, Jesus said, If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
Luke 1:13, Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John.
Psalm 66:18-19, If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer.
Acts 12:5-7, So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.
Philippians 4:6-7, Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
James 5:16, The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
No cell towers, no monthly service fee, no “dropped” calls and no unanswered calls that forward to His voicemail. A direct connection! And a prayer is all it takes. Abide by His counsel in 2 Corinthians 4:18 and “Fix your eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
Your phone is ringing. Receive God’s call; He wants to speak with you! Trust, have faith, and believe! —submitted by Scott Phillips, US

This is a fine analogy, Scott. And how reassuring that God is more reliable than our phones!

God’s calling!
…doesn’t seems to end in such a great way. No man is excluded of God’s call.
