Truth or Consequences was a game show that aired in the 60s & 70s—hosted by Bob Barker. Great show!

Today, we’re faced with what as an everyday reality . . . the need for a life based on the truth contained in God’s Word or we’ll face the consequences of our decisions.

Choices and outcomes – Genesis 12:1-7; 13:1-12

We make choices everyday that affect our lives and the lives of others. The choices we make are based on data or information stored in our memory. Data received from our parents, school, peers, experiences, and media. We make decisions, but we certainly cannot choose the consequences.

Abram obeyed God, but he took Lot with him and it became problematic. They came to a point where they could no longer dwell in the same area. Abram told his nephew to pick where he would like to live. Lot chose the most prosperous-looking land . . . Jordan near Sodom. Lot chose with his eyes and out of a selfish heart.

Abram left the outcome up to the providence of God. Abram was abundantly blessed. Lot had to escape and leave all behind.

We have to allow God to direct our path. We must understand that God knows what’s best. God knows what’s coming ahead. We must be sensitive to God’s voice.

Help me, Lord, to leave my choices up to You. Help me to base my decisions on the truth in Your Word.

Deal with God’s Truth (His Word) or deal with the consequences of your disobedience:
