Someone has said, “Busyness is not of the devil, it is the devil.” Do you agree with this quote? What are the pitfalls and blessings of busyness?

Being busy will distract you from focusing on God, and taking the time to know Him, as well as taking time for yourself to relax.
Yet being busy will also help you from not being idle and being productive.
You just have to find a balance.

If you focus on whom you are busy for {Our Father which art in HEAVEN} then you don’t get confused or have that feeling of being distracted…. my pastor always says, ” Do all things as if you are doing them for GOD or CHRIST himself and you will make good decisions and fewer mistakes.” this is what i am working on myself to improve my actions and thoughts as to the goal; to LOVE all of GOD’s people…

I’ve been wanting to respond to this question for a while, but guess what? I’ve been busy.
This morning, I decided to take a pause and reflect on the question. Here are two thoughts:
– Busyness has the potential of robbing us from quiet reflection. We move quickly from point A to B to C and so on, without taking stock of whether they are pleasing to the Lord, and whether we are still “seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).
– Busyness has the potential of challenging us to be on our toes to place the important things first, and not fall prey to the tyranny of the urgent.
Today, I’m asking the Lord to help me live out Galatians 5:25 as I move through my to-do list. “We live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
Have a great day. 🙂

It is good to be busy in our lives if it is productive and worthy of God. However, when busyness takes us away from our personal time with God and our relationships then we have to re-evaluate our priorities.
Also, some christians make the mistakes of thinking that when they are heavily involved with God’s work they are doing something right in the eyes of God. Yes, when these ministry work does not take us away from our quiet time with God and time with our family. When it is not, then we are in danger of exhausting ourselves and may create unhappiness within the family and our relationship with God.
I constantly have to remind myself not to let the daily chores and work to keep me from spending time with God. It is not easy, we can be easily distracted by the busyness of life. Keep praying.

I have been busy doing things not realizing that busyness has been taking me away from spending time with God. I am retired military and going to school on-line. So that means I am pushing myself all the time to meet acedemic time tables.
God has away of reminding us to slow down and focus on him. Whether it be through sickness, family members, friends whatever the case may be God has our best interest. I keep praying that God helps me to realize to take time to meditate on his word and not on myself or circumstances. Stay focused on God

I find if I do not spend time with the Lord first thing in the morning, my busyness takes over. Nothing in particular, I am now retired. Find the days moving faster now, than when I was working. But when I worked I had structure. Getting up same time everyday, coffee devotionals. I drove around in my car doing community nursing, so I listened to christian radio in my car.
I also prayed while driving. Now I find it is 11 pm, and I haven’t had a dialouge with God all day, and I am to tired, want to get under the covers and go to sleep.
Since I realized this, I am tring to remember to “talk” to God through ou tmy day, no matter what I am doing. And get up a little earlier, like today, so I can spend time with him.
I know my whole day goes better, and my soul feels such peace.
