‘Tis without doubt, day in day out
people we cannot do without
are mothers of whom we are proud
to thank and exalt God aloud.
Some mothers may have been lame since birth,
yet, with their whole might, they always serve;
for what their many good deeds are worth,
our gratitude, they truly deserve.
Of our concern and admiration,
single moms are no less deserving;
often strong-minded and yet patient,
they give up much less than they give in.
No less caring mothers are widows,
through whom, God’s love also freely flows;
to their own or other children,
their main roles are not much different.
So called “ overworked and underpaid,”
of housewives, it has been oft-times said;
the last to sleep, the first to “rise and shine ”,
their homes, they keep, until they really shine.
Supporting fathers as bread-winners
are their wives who slog as working mothers;
through everything, pleasant or adverse,
God has caused them to be victorious.
This year, to nonchalant people,
eighth of May is just another day,
but to sentimental people,
it is none other than Mother’s Day.
Whether young and strong or weak and old,
our mothers, we should love and treasure –
always less than God, but more than gold,
never out of force, but with pleasure.
However imperfect mothers are,
they are still more maternal by far –
out of their mercy, they sacrifice,
when necessary, they compromise.
Of their own and other children,
their well-being, are mothers concerned
many calories, they really burn
yet, they ask for nothing in return.
Other than God, there are none
as maternal as mothers;
in one accord, let us want
to love them as God loves us.
A very blessed Mother’s Day
we wish all mothers May after May;
in all that we do, think and say,
let us honour them every day.
