In the Christian life, meditation differs from questionable practices in the world. As we read the Bible, it’s clear that our God wants us to meditate—meditate on Him and His Word.
In Philippians 4:8, it says: “Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”
We need to have a quiet place to meditate. Psalm 4:4 states, “Think about it overnight and remain silent.”
And in Psalm 46:10 we find that we should “be still, and know that [He is] God.” And in Psalm 37:7 it tells us to “be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act.”
The world around us has many problems and it’s easy to get caught up in panic-and-react mode, but if we can meditate for a few minutes during our day on God’s Word, He will guide us and lead us toward success. In Joshua 1:8 it says “study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”
So take some time today to find a quiet place and meditate on God’s Word. Keep some of these verses with you during the day and meditate on them. It will help you experience God’s direction and peace in your life.

Thank you Ken for this teaching today. I am a “man of action” and it is sometimes difficult for me to simply be still and “wait on God” to act. I am praying and working on this in my life more and more each day.

I spend good time with the Lord early each morning, it is the most precious and best time of the day. I get discouraged often though because it seems as I get going with the demand of the pace and the required regiment and focus in an often stressful changing enviorment that my reaction to situations has only brought little change. I just seek forgiveness and start over each new day with a prayer to respond out of my spirit and not react from my flesh…
I would greatly appreciate prater in this area…I want my whole life to be a shining testimony of the greatness of God

will77, you are in my prayers. Your desire to see change and start afresh each day reminds me of what the prophet Jeremiah once wrote: “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in Him!” (Lamentations 3:22-24). May you be filled with hope in Him today!

wow…Thanks for pointing out that verse Tom. It fills me with hope as well as my faith in Him that He will finish the good work He has begun.
Thank You for your prayers and this verse which I am going to copy down and keep it in my front pocket to remind me through the day
God Bless

So glad it’s brought you encouragement, will77. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been feeling stressed or down and a verse of Scripture comes to mind—giving me perspective in hope. It’s sooo important for us to be regularly meditating and memorizing God’s Word!
