The Bible refers to hell in both the Old and New Testaments. What does Scripture actually teach about this place of judgment?

It is compared with the rubbish tip just out side Jerusalem, well the old Jerusalem. It was once a place where the Jews sacrificed their children during their pagan days. So since the place was unclean it was turned into a rubbish tip where worms and maggots ate away at the rubbish and fires burned it. There was a constant stench. Not the place I’d want to go.
