I have a new mobile phone. No, not the much vaunted high-end smart-phone that is currently all the rage in Nairobi. What I now have is by comparison a pretty modest handset, but with two features that particularly stand out for me: the browser and the organizer.

The browser because the internet is now literally mine for the asking. I may not send or receive e-mail, but I’m now able to access—almost at an instant—the teachings at RBC as soon as they are posted online, among others. It’s hard to believe that a while ago, I was combing the streets of Nairobi in search of used RBC booklets for my personal growth and spiritual nourishment. Now I’m so up to date that I really feel part of this most wonderful community. As for the organizer, it has slowly but surely become an indispensable aid in managing my time and prioritizing my activities.

While marveling at the little piece of technology on my palm a while ago, it occurred to me that just as before, here in the information age, the Lord is so powerfully omnipresent. So I ought to arise and shine, for my Light has come (Isaiah 60:1)! He desires that I increase in my knowledge of Him (Colossians 1:10). He has provided the tools, He is with me always (Matthew 28:20), holy and awesome is His name (Psalm 19:9).

It feels good to be empowered. It feels even better to ‘tithe’ at least 10% of my time as I offer myself to be molded into a vessel for honor. I believe. Therefore, I will see (John 11:40).
