In the country where I live, 99 out of 100 people do not share my faith. Most of them are educated, well-informed, cultured, godly and religious in their own ways. When I get an opportunity to talk to them about my faith, I try my best to have clarity of thought and expression. Only if I am clear about what I believe in, can I explain it to them. And my day-to-day life, behaviour and character must be seen to match with my faith. With God’s help this is possible.
I have family who are “successful” and secure in their lives, well educated and on top of their game. My witnesses to them is limited to the way I live my life, reliant on Christ and speaking of the ways He has worked in my life… and lots of prayer that the seeds sown will bring fruit.
Christ has brought me through some rough times in my life and I have had to learn to trust Him more and more. I share the struggles and the way God has carried me through with others as I share my faith. Because my experiences are not bizarre or unusual, they are believable and people listen.
I don’t preach to others or force my faith down their throats. I also don’t try to act holy, before I became a born again Christian, this hypocracy drove me away from the faith. If anyone at work comes to me with a problem, I help in anyway I can, Though all the workers at my factory are non believers, we pray every morning and they see how God has guided us and provided for us in these trying times. If any one has a problem I pray for it and tell them that they know how God has worked in my life and encourge them to pray to the God they believe in (and hope maybe that they will want to pray to the One and Only God, who I believe in).
I know from experience that forcing people to believe in what we believe in sometimes turn them away, it did to me and it took loving, patient and non judgemental friends who accepted even when I did not believe in what they believed in to bring me back to Jesus.
I remember Jesus once said to His deciples to listern to what the teachers of the jews were saying but shouldn’t live as they live. This clearly means your life must be inline with what you proclaim. I believe you can choose not to proclaim base on the environment you find yourself. If there is danger you will want to keep quite before you end up putting GOD at a test. Someone can sue you for preaching the gospel but cannot sue you for living the gospel. Our daily gospel principled lives teaches theology anytime we are with people, in terms of how we talk, relate with others, care, love unconditionaly, generousity, kindness, sympathy, gentle, meek, modest, hospitality, neatness, patient and so on. I belief with my heart that even if we do not get the forum to preach, but live like what we wanted to preach, that alone can fetch souls for the kingdom of GOD. Live like the gospel you want to preach and in the course of living, the gospel will preach itself though you. BeBless
i use my blog to share my testimonies and my journey as a Christian with my friends who do not believe in Jesus. they are often more receptive about reading my sharings on the blog, rather than hear me share face-to-face.
but this blog is not wholly on “spiritual issues” but also on my personal updates and perspectives on trends/news, so as to attract them to continue reading my blog posts, creating a general openness for them to read about stories of my faith in Jesus.
at the same time, i pray for my friends’ salvation whenever i think of them and in prayer meetings.
