Satan takes the good gifts of God and imitates them with works of evil. He (satan) them gaily paints and presents these lies as good and acceptable. But every deception of satan is carefully planned to ease its way into our life and create a wedge between us and God. Bit by bit and piece by piece we accept counterfeit “gifts” into our life, our nation, and our world. Marriage between a man and women is one ot those blessed gifts from God. God particapited in that first union, and he should be invited to participate in all unions of marriage. God stated His view of any other union, besides that of a man and women quite clearly in Lev 18:22 and Rev 21:8
In the years I have been saved and have had my eyes opened to God’s truth, I have noticed a disturbing trend with Christians and/or conservatives. We are willing to allow the enemy to define what we stand for and believe in. We are willing for them to determine the labels we will use for the various stands people have, such as “traditional” marriage versus “same-sex” marriage. The problem is that marriage is marriage and God defined it as one man and one woman for life. The term marriage should never be allowed to be qualified by adjectives. By doing so, we allow the enemy to put us/God in a corner and we must defend that corner. God owns the playing field and we are just his workers. We should always use the terms and definitions that God uses and never what the enemy has decided to label it with.
The same type of issue exists between the Pro-Choice advocates and their label of our stand as anti-abortion. Our “label” of our position is Pro-Life, which makes the enemy angry and will never use that term. We should never back done or allow ourselves to be caught in their definitions or use their labels.
I have the same conviction when I hear people saying things about “their” God and what “their” God has done for them. If “their” God is the God of the Bible, which is the only God, then they should not be qualifying the name with an adjective. He is God and there is no other. Call Him by His name and only His name and do not keep Him to yourself. This will make the enemy angry and he will work to topple you, but in the end, people will know whose you are and that you will not compromise even with little things when it comes to Truth.
Because we have come to the point of being able to use language to mean anything we want it to mean, words and how we use them are extremely important. If we do not carefully choose and use the words to be exact and without any possible means of misintrepretation, then we can be guilty of misleading when we thought we were absolutely clear. Take our current president as an example. When asked numerous times during the campaign, point blank, if he was a Christian, he would always mention what church he was a member of and how long he had been a member. This never answered the question. Our churches are filled with people on the membership rolls that are not Christians. Without being able to name the name of Jesus Christ as his personal savior, he tells me in clear language that he is not a Christian. His actions speak louder then his words do anyway and his actions clearly state that he is as much a non-Christian as Satan is.
So, if we are to fight a battle of words, we must be the ones to make the definitions and the labels, not the enemy. We must be willing to ignore their labels and only use the truthful terms. We should never use the term marriage to mean the co-habitation of same-sex persons, because it is not marriage and never will be. We must never use the term Pro-Choice, because it is not a choice, only death. We must define the terms as they are determined by God and is written in His Word.
Much as I agree with the comments that lot of people will call them Christians and only few will call themselves belonging to Christ, the comment on the present US president seems very harsh (“equating him to be as unchristian as Satan”)
I mean, equating him to Satan seems too damning a statement. He might not be having a personal relationship with Christ, but does not mean that he is not in the journey. I am sure he prays to Jesus whatever imperfections his faith has and I am sure Christ will answer his prayers as He sees fit. Satan of course will never pray to God.
Before I came to accept Christ as my personal saviour, I still was a ‘Christian’ and was believing in Christ as God. My prayers also were answered. Of course I never at that time considered belief in Christ as essential for salvation as I had a more secular notion of benevolence of God. God in his wisdom seems to have considered it worthwile to bring me to a better relationship with him and a better understanding (still lots of ways to go). I am sure you would agree that statement (like Satan) is too harsh to use for most of our fellow beings. Better ‘lost children of God’.
I feel that marriage is very important. Alot of people take it likely and its visible in the world today. divorce after divorce, separation after separation. This is not God will. He said in his world once a man and woman are marriage they become one. “Let what God has brought together no man separate.”
When you call it a ‘traditional marriage’, then it invites attack and becomes prone to different interpretations which may lead the meaning away from its value and purpose. It is a holy union as united by a covenant between a man and a woman before the Lord as God had purposed it. God created one Adam in His image… then He created one Eve for Adam, and God saw that one Eve was good and sufficient for Adam. It is only by our selfishness and evil desires that create our own justifications for the standards that we set for us, sometimes appealing to the societal demands, but not necessarily God’s standards which all christians must obediently abide always.
I have been living in the UK for the past 3 years and am experiencing firsthand the insidious attack Satan is conducting on this. I grieve for my daughter’s generation and their generations to follow. Its almost become impossible to call homosexuality a sin as you can be booked for generating homophobia, a hate crime. There is no newspaper or magazine reporter who will even put forth the idea that there could be a different view. The very strong messages put forth in any discussion on this in the media here is that its only the weirdoes who think homosexuality is a sin.
Thats what feeds in the young minds.
Our children are growing up in such an environment and the need to confirm means that a lot of children will grow up accepting this message.
But I feel there are other angles to this.
One of the problems which I feel is that we as Christians have focussed on this one sexual sin ignoring all the others and the root causes which feed into this.
The Christian scholars who read this may correct me, but I feel God did not classify homosexuality as the nadir of all sexual sins. I feel it is equally there with adultery, pre marital sex and all other debauchery. Much as we may feel homosexuality is perverse, I don’t feel it is too much more sinful than someone indulging in any sex outside marriage.
Do we condemn with the same energy, the sexual laxness in our society, the promiscuous culture that we expose our children to? This is what leads to it and that is where we lose the game.
Yes, I understand we as Christians feel we can at least understand someone falling in temptation and having premarital sex or adultery ( as we all have been tempted and have fallen in various degrees). Homosexuality seems more debased. And that comes out in our message.
But that I feel it is just a perception we have. It is just another form of sexual debasing. Some reaches there as one searches for more sexual highs, or some as they try to find ways to fill the vacuum in one heart due to psychological pressures and end up in such a relation and start getting an amount of comfort and security there.
I have seen pornographic and adult magazines sold freely in stores in UK, often in the eye level of kids. We as Christians have stopped campaigning against that. If we say ban drugs because it kills oneself (and others), we should do the more here as this results in more broken homes and disrupted lives. Smoking will kill only less.
I think every time we talk we need to classify homosexuality is league with all other sins. I don’t for a second mean treat it as another sin and forget about it, but treat it as a grave sin but equate it with others as well.
And our goal should not be trying for legislation to regulate this. We should do this, but it is a losing battle. It will happen sooner or later if we fight it the way we fight now. There might be some support for Christian values in this generation, but very little in the next as the next generation will be more conditioned the way Satan would want. So let us tackle the root causes and take the fight to the heart of the issues.
We need more Christians into Media and Science to counter act the wrong messages we get now. Lets always send the message that any sex outside marriage is a sin alongside homosexuality.
Homosexuality is hitting home today as a family member has chosen this lifestyle, one who also claims to be a Christian. I agree with what you say. I am also confused about how to respond. He grew up adopted by a single mom…he seems to hunger for a father figure. How to love him with Christ’s love while not backing down to this sin….One said “I am a virgin until I marry’ and I will be one to the rest of my life if I don’t marry-we must abstain for the glory of God” This was a good answer, but still falls short as soon many gays will be allowed to marry!
I have a problem. My brother who is close to 70 yrs old is living with a lady (he has been divorced twice) In light of Romans 6: 20When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness” should we not shy away from having him stay at our home with her when they visit us a distance away? Should we expect them to abide by our standards of marriage and ask them to stay at a hotel instead of our home? I love him very much, and want to have him know he can come to Jesus “just as he is” and that he will realize the power to turn away from such sin once he trusts Christ…Advice, please
Biblically, marriage refers to a man and a woman. Done. What I don’t like or won’t succumb to is ‘hate’. God sees all things, knows all things, it is not in our place to judge, torment, discriminate or hate others who dont follow our beliefs or principles. Just as Jesus forgave a prostitute, I can be friends with a gay person, be happy for him if he’s happy. I may not believe in his way of life but i will never ever treat him disrespectfully of badly.
He without sin, cast the first stone.
Thats all.
Well, if my memory served me correct, God created Adam and then Eve. He created her as a helpmate did he not? That says it for me. He did not created another male and he did not create several, only one woman.
The Lord made things perfect for us mankind. He made us each a partner for our life. One Man for One Woman just as Adam was perfect for Eve.
I believe that mankind never saw the beauty of this unity between Adam and Eve. They had a beautiful covenant blessed by God Himself in the Garden of Eden. This couple brought forth seeds of genuine love and they had many children. God blessed them all because Adam and Eve abided in God’s Law for mankind.
We should return to God’s Law in marriage in order for the blessing of marriage such as Adam and Eve. If we abide in Him, He will abide in us. Each married couple should let Christ lead their journey in life together that all shall go well with them and their children.
Children ought to be reminded of the blessings of Adam and Eve and the importance of abiding in God’s Law to succeed in His path and be of peace at heart. In School, children hardly have knowledge of this in great detail, but every new learning experience begins at home. So its our very duty to constantly educate our younger children on marriage before revealing them the biological aspect of their bodies that they will face later in their teens when they truly might need our support.

My view of marriage is the same as the biblical perspective one man and one woman as God intended so that they could procreate and fill the earth.
