I like to use the Key Word Greek Hebrew study Bible KJV. It’s a great study Bible because you have the literal translation at your fingertips. Mine is falling apart!!

The translation of the Bible that I use is the KJV. I don’t know why, but for me I am more in tune to the spirit through these pages. I have been so deep in reading at times that I seem to be in the setting. The Holy Spirit has taught me so much through these pages, and with other versions I am afraid that they are like “watered down” to me. Sometimes in other versions words are changed to help our understanding, but they sometimes change God’s intent. Example, “be ye perfect”, another version may say “mature”. Mature and perfect are different to me. And keep in mind, God is not going to tell us to do something that He hasn’t equipped us to do.

I have a NKJ in my car and a NIV and KJ at home and an Amplified. But, I prefer the NLT online every morning. It is clear and precise and I find it easier to read.

I love the old NASB (new american standard bible)….with all its thees and thous…I appreciate the reverence of those titles….and the accuracy of the translation. I am a ‘traslation addict’ ….and of the 20 or so translations I have, my old NASB is the one I usually grab first….especially for a devotional read. The one I love for ease of read and accuracy, is the also out of print, Today’s English Version. I wish they would reprint some of these, so we could get them again!!

Last year I bought an NIV /The Message. I find it is great to have both versions side by side on the same page. While I am very familiar with the NIV, the way the Message puts is sometimes is very helpful to understanding something I might be struggling with. Often the Message is very blunt – in modern type language which gives me insight to the mood of the passage. Lately I have been working through Jeremiah, and have found the side by side very helpful to getting my head around what the writer is saying.

I enjoy the KJV but I have recently started using the AMP. I must say the enlightment is great.I am learning so much more. I am really into the Old Test. right now so the different translation is great.

I was quite enthralled by my NKJV until i got myself
the NIV/the message in 2005,i find it very convenient
to read for easy understanding,the major draw back
is that it is too bulky to carry around easily so i fall
back on KJV when i have to take my bible to work or
on vacation.
