I get inspiration from a song by Mary Mary. It’s call the God in Me. It talks about how people are trying to figure out what it is about you. Your rich or wear nice clothes or have a nice house or etc. Then the chrous goes “But what they don’t know is when you go home And get behind closed doors man you hit the floor And what they can’t see is your on your knees So the next time you get it just tell em It’s the God in me”
It gives me a reminder to glorify Christ for all He has done and lead not unto my own understanding.
i don’t really have a single one but every time i read a Max Lucado book I get rejuvenated for Christ all over again. I like the way He can tell a story and make it relate to us even though it happened years ago.
I, too, am also grateful to Dietrich Bonhoefer for his writings. My favorite book, The Cost of Discipleship, has some great quotes on the price of grace and the serious responsibility Christians hold to live in such a way as to honor God’s sacrifice. However, it also encourages the reader that although we do fail, God is full of grace. A very simple, encouraging quote that I like is this:
“Salvation through following Jesus is not something we men can achieve for ourselves–but with God all things are possible.”
I believe in the sun even when it is not shinng
I believe in love though I knew it not
I believe in God even when He is silent.
-written on a cellar wall in Cologne after World War II
And basing from C.S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters, there are moments wherein, God purposely withdraws His presence from us. I am facing that moment right now.
I am a huge fan of praise and worship – a good sermon is always needed, but I feel I give my most to God through praise and worship. That said, I’m a huge country music fan – Texas country to be precise. If you get a chance, listen to Aaron Watson’s cd entitled Barbed Wire Halo. It is absolutely amazing. He has a track on there called Sonshine. I don’t know if it has been written before or if he wrote it, but his version is simply wonderful! Here are the lyrics…
Sonshine by Aaron Watson
When wilted and whithered
And dyin’ of thirst
In need of forgiveness
When you’re at your worst
Let the rain fall upon you
Like sweet mornin’ dew
Wash away all your sorrows
And let the Son shine on you
Let the Son shine from heaven
Through the clouds in the sky
Come receive your salvation
From His sacrifice
And when you’re down and discouraged
And your heart’s torn in two
You turn your face to the Father
And let His Son shine on you
I’ve been there before
And I know your pain
Surrounded by darkness
All alone and ashamed
While you’re out on life’s highway
The wrong turn can leave you lost
So when you come to the crossroad
Take the road to the cross
Let the Son shine from heaven
Through the clouds in the sky
Come receive your salvation
From His sacrifice
And when you’re down and discouraged
And your heart’s torn in two
Turn your face to the Father
And let His Son shine on you
And when you’re down and discouraged
And your heart’s torn in two
You turn your face to the Father
And let His Son shine on you
Turn your face to the Father
And let His Son shine on you
“Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him” by Charles Stanley. Even when I think I have doubts and don’t understand the why of a situation I remember this statement. Just have to step out and go for it knowing I am not alone and that whatever happens God has His ultimate purpose for it. I just have to qbey in faith and leave all the rest to Him
John MacArthur’s credo or quotation which says, “Unleashing God’s Truth, One Verse at a Time.” Because this quotation is one of my personal favorites in the ministry.
What I thought about in my mind was that if we read the Holy Bible we need to understand God’s Word and unleash it in a single verse on a single day.

A simple phrase from my Pastor, Tom Mullins here at Christ Fellowship Church in Palm Beach Gardens, FL regarding trials and hard times:
“God never puts you through it, He PULLS you through it!”
What a wonderful way to look at life.

I find Dietrich Bonhoefer to be a source of encouragement. Max Lucado and Lucinda Seacrest McDowell often encourage me with the words they write.

St. Francis of Assisi said it well: “Proclaim the Gospel at all times. When necessary, use words.”

…”do small things with great love”…..Mother Teresa. This is a directive that I can apply to every moment in my life.

Pastor Jon Corson.. Seeds germinate not terminate.
The word of God is the seeds we plant, plant some seeds today and watch God germinate them.
