I think the Bible gives us great examples of ways to treat others. It says we should be kind (Ephesians4:32) Love one another because He loves us (1 John 4:7-12) Forgive because He forgives us and of course treat others as we want to be treated (Matthew 7:12) I also think He wants us to give, not just money but time and effort to show His love. Finally I also think He wants us to tell everyone about Him. I think this is the greatest gift you can give, tell them about salvation through Christ.
Hollywood recently remade a great classic in “The Day The Earth Stood Still”. The original addressed the dangerous combination of mans natural tendencies to discover and create as well as to fight and destroy (ie. nuclear weapons). The remake specifically addressed our failure to adequately care for the planet we are entrusted with. I find it sad and ironic that Christians who have a God given mandate to take care of Gods creation are often silent when it comes to environmental issues.
Christians have (or should have) a unique perspective on environmental issues. We understand that we are created in Gods image, making the life of a humane more valuable and sacred than the life of an animale. At the same time we know that God created the earth and everything in it, and then God asked us to take care of it for him. This allows us a to have a very healthy balance that I think most of us feel intuitively but fail to stand up for.
Read Genisis 1, and think about what you could to help save the planet.
