What great joy to have a father
to honor, uphold, and treasure
before he leaves us forever
and we mourn him beyond measure.
1st D : Dedicated
Dad’s dedication,
to resilient fatherhood
is without question,
always for the greater good.
2nd D : Disciplined
By using a bit more discipline,
dad has succeeded in bringing me thus far;
by using a lot more discipline,
he and I shine brighter than the brightest star.
3rd D : Diligent
Often hard to say between mom and dad
who is more resourceful or diligent,
still God is mostly satisfied and glad
of the examples they set to children.
4th D : Dependable
From smaller things to bigger things,
for many things, on dad, I can depend;
when we place ourselves under God’s wings,
He will bless and protect us without end.
5th D : Delightful
Whether for a long time or for a while,
whenever I frown, dad can make me smile;
just as Jesus is the Light who leads us,
dad has been our delight all through these years.
6th D : Decisive
When guided by an omniscient God,
dad can make good and wise decisions—
meeting needs with what he can afford,
and saving for future provisions.
7th D : Docile
To complete various tasks, dad is able,
yet, he remains humble and teachable;
God makes the impossible things possible
just as He makes dad docile but durable.
8th D : Determined
From when dad lies down to when he wakes up,
he rarely leaves things half-way or half-done;
sometimes giving in, seldom giving up,
dad knows when to work and when to have fun.
3-O God
Whenever our earthly fathers stumble or fail,
God stays as our anchor, rudder and sail;
wherever the storms of life toss us,
He has always taken us through the worst.
No matter how powerful or real,
no evil or weapon can prevail;
never against our omnipotent God,
can they beat Him and snatch our reward.
None can match God’s wisdom and knowledge.
He is omniscient from age to age;
neither modern science nor technology
can upstage God, our perfect prodigy.
Much more than we can ever imagine,
God’s omnipresence is felt more than seen;
through thick and thin, He has been with us
to brave each trial with grit and focus.
For God and each earthly father,
we exalt our Divine Father
through our worship and character,
on Father’s Day and forever.

Good thoughts, Bernard! I love the idea that even though our earthly fathers may fail us, we have a perfect, loving God who will never leave us or forsake us. Our Abba Father is worthy of all our trust, love, and adoration.
