It’s funny that this came up as I was truly thinking about the difference between Easter and Christmas this morning. I love Christmas, it’s a celebration of our Father’s birth and it brings so much joy no matter what faith people have or don’t have. People seem to be more full of joy and happiness and you don’t see that too often. Easter is truly about what God sent his son to accomplish and in that we have salvation and forgiveness for our sins. There is absolutely nothing that could compare to that. For God so loved the World! What an awesome God we serve. God Bless you for posing this question!
Christmas is the wonderful beginning of God’s salvation of humans on earth. Without Christmas there could be no Easter. Yet if there was no Easter then Christmas loses it meaning and the hope that it bring. I don’t think either one is more important, both were part of God’s plan. But let us not lose sight of it is in Easter that God’s plan of salvation is completed and it is in Christ’s death and resurrection that our sins are forgiven and we are made right with God. And since we are made right with God, we can have hope of a future.
Easter means more to me, Christ died for me-gave His all. “Greater love hath no man” He died for me even though i was a sinner, and he says He is going to fight for me. I can see judgment now… Satan persecuting me telling God all I have done wrong, and then walks in Jesus to my defense and says He has forgiven me because I believed, Easter is such an awesome time to think about His life and teachings here on earth. How wonderful that would have been to walk with Jesus when He walked here.
The Gospel message is simple:
On Christ the Lord believe.
A clild of God you will become
The moment you Jesus receive.
The Bible tells it so clear and plain –
Christ died on the cross for our sin.
He was buried and rose up from the grave.
He’ll save if you let him come in.
The Gospel message is awesome!
God gave His own dear Son.
Salvation is a gift of grace.
The work has already been done.
There is a price to be paid for sin;
And death is that penalty.
Jesus paid sins price on Calvary.
He died there for you and for me.
We can’t have Easter without Christmas; and Christmas without Easter does not settle the sin question or provide a way of reconciliation with God. They both have tremendous meaning to the born again believer. Jesus was not born to live but to die for our sins and to be raised from the dead for our justification. What an awesome Heavenly Father we have! “Jesus left Heaven to die in my place. What mercy! What love and what grace!”
