How have you experienced the reality of “generational sin”? What can be done to change the ongoing presence of sin in a family line?

Well one way is to ask God for direction. My families generational curse is drugs/alocohol. I try to break the curse by telling my teens about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.;

I think the first thing is to recognize the sin for what it is, a choice you make, and not something you inherited.

Yep, In my own family….I see the sin of unforgiveness….dwelling on an issue….we have to all talk it out…..when one party does all the talking….and the other can’t say their peace…it’s not good…that is what is happening in my family….they won’t let you get a word out…so stubborn…won’t listen…we are all praying they come around…it is hurting my 79 year old mother….it is just simply “nonsense”….thanks for listenting to me and for all your prayers

My family is cursed with drug/alcohol/having no involvement with the church or Christ, physical, mental and emotional abuse.
It’s been rough, but I shook free of all of that and have become the biggest believer in Christ in our family for generations. I quit drugs (was only for a couple of months), quit alcohol, stop abusing and found Christ. I am an anewed person in Christ and no longer even know about those things in my life any longer. I wish I had known Christ for all those years, but such as it may, I know him now.
