The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Il, died recently and some fear that a smooth transition of power may not occur. Do you sometimes experience anxiety about the future when major events happen in the world?

For me, what is happening in North Korea, is way outside the realm of what God has entrusted to me. I put my trust in God that these kinds of things will work themselves out.

We have always had evil leaders in the world that oppress their people, it was just a matter of time until Korea’s evil leader passed and his son will probably be little different maybe worse. When I look at what is going on in the world and measure it against scripture the thing that stands most clearly is the global financial situation. The bible says it will be the economy that will bring the anti-christ into power and we have certainly seen the stage being set for this. All economies are tied together in the world because of technology and they are all on shakey ground this is the situation to watch.

I find it exciting whenever there is a change in leadership because God is the one who sets kingdoms up and tears them down. Every leadership change brings us that much closer to Jesus as King of Kings and the milennial reign.
Also, a suggestion for Christmas Sunday, instead of going to church, invite another family to go with you to the local hospital and walk up and down the halls singing Christmas carols for all those who can’t be home for Christmas!

Absolutely agree about the millennial reign of Christ.
Regarding visiting those who can’t be home for Christmas, we have 23 hours of Christmas Sunday to do this. You see, it is only one day out of the seven week days—and a miserly hour that we have set aside for worship on the Lord’s Day. And it is just this particular time-slot we want to sleep in (here at my house), travel, vacation, play golf, go fishing and caroling.
Listen, here’s the principle: When God is given primary place everything else will fall into its proper place. There are many tasks especially now during Christmas, that distract us from giving God first—what rightfully belongs to Him. Like Mary we need to choose the better part. Corporate worship in the fellowship of Christians must take precedence over every other ministry or activity.
Worship comes first, work follows next. To really love others the way God loves, we ought to love Him first. And then, it is He who enables us to love people. C.S. Lewis said it best: “When I love God more than I love my earthly dearest, then I shall love my earthly dearest more than I do now”. Thanks philco, for the good suggestion!
Extending my prayerful heart-felt wishes for a joyous and blessed Christmas—to all!
