A security agency set up an open Wi-Fi network in a public area in London. When people connected to the network, they were presented with the usual lengthy terms and conditions. But there was a hidden, devilish catch—a clause stating that users of the Wi-Fi were “giving permanent ownership of the user’s firstborn child” to the agency. Six people clicked right through the clause and accepted the terms.
In Genesis 3, Eve clicked right through Satan’s terms—not seeing the hidden costs of her actions. The serpent (Satan in snake form) was shrewd—he knew how to trap her by using temptation. Satan used his diabolical shrewdness to take advantage of Eve’s innocence and integrity. He said, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?” (Genesis 3:1). In those words were the hidden costs of overemphasizing the strictness of God’s instructions and questioning His goodness.
Eve downgraded the good things God provided, adding to what He had said, and weakened what would happen if she and Adam were disobedient (Genesis 3:2-3). After Satan heard this, he blatantly denied the penalty: “You won’t die!” (Genesis 3:4). This was the ultimate hidden cost. Satan lied. The result of their disobedience would be the hidden cost of their lost relationship with God.
The decision Adam and Eve made is the same wrong choice we would have made, and we’re still experiencing the consequences. But Jesus came and willingly paid the ultimate price for all the hidden costs of our disobedience. Though death came through that first sin, God’s wonderful grace and His gift of forgiveness is greater (Ephesians 2:4-5). He replaces the hidden costs of sin with salvation and hope for eternity! (John 3:16).

Hello my Christians Brother/Sisters, I thank you for sending me and encouraging me thru this daily journey, But I am asking you to dis continue sending me these, because it’s so much for me to keep up in so many other encouraging notes I receives. My daily bread I read each day, my bible, and other strong encouraging words and It’s so much now so I have to narrow it down some my sunday school lessons, bible, and bible study words, daily bread, and other spiritual readings I receive from you, In which I will still continue to keep. Please no more of the Our Daily Journey thru my e-mails at least for right now, maybe one day I’ll pick it up again but I have to stop that particular reading for now.
Thanks,
Blessings To You,

Hi Marvin, I’m pull’n with you. It’s like Russell F. said the other day, God never intended the pain we are experiencing in life. God was up front and did not conceal any fine print with the original man and woman. The phrase “you will certainly die” seems clear to me. So by deception, pride, blindness, or foolishness, mankind made a choice, a wrong choice. God is a God of choice, without it, love can’t be love, unless we chose to love, and God knew the relationship with us had to be based on what He had founded the world for, to show love. So we seem to stomp, whine, spit and complain about the bad things in life. The more we complain the further we want to move from God, the further we move from God the more bad things happen. I an amazed at our arrogance in pointing our finger at God and demanding “why”, how could a loving God allow this to happen. Hey, our choice, it was also God’s choice, in love, to set out on a most costly eternal correction we once again could chose. There is a little more fine print, mostly the guaranty, but we have our choice back, and God is still showing His love to a world to make a choice. Thanks Marvin

Marvin, the challenge we all face is—as Gary has so clearly detailed—to see how circumstances through our limited, human understanding. We can then become bitter and accept the lies of the evil one that God isn’t good and that He doesn’t care. Praise God that this isn’t true and that He is with us and He is for us!

Thank you Marvin for your insights. Deception is all around us. The lies of satan is still as strong as back in the garden. We must put on the whole armor of God in Ephesians 6., if we are to stand against the wiles of the devil. Thank God for His Word. It has stood the test of time, Hallelujah! Stay bless saints of God.

Amen and amen, Marvin! Every sin is a lie. With Christ there is no hidden agenda, for He tells us to count the cost of following Him. May we be careful to walk in fellowship with our Savior today and everyday!

My name is a Umerah Ikechukwu and I don’t know if I am born again. I’ve given my life to Christ but I still end up making mistakes like lying, having bad sexual thought etc. In short I need help.
hsnpoor on August 16, 2016 at 11:57 am
Being born again doesn’t instantaneously make you sinless, EXCEPT positionally in the eyes of God because in Christ, God no longer sees your sin, but rather sees Christ’s covering of them. If you are truly born again, your gratitude for what Christ has done for you, in the eyes of God, should change the direction of your life so that you will begin to sin less, as the Holy Spirit, who has now taken up residence within you, convicts you and makes the sin that once ruled over you distasteful to the point that you no longer have a tolerance for it. That is His job; yours is to cooperate because when Jesus says you can do NOTHING apart from Him, that is exactly what He means. Any change in your life & lifestyle that reflects His image is because of Him, not you. This will be a life-long pruning process that will not be completed until you stand in His presence, either by death or by rapture. I have and will continue to pray for you Umerah (beautiful name…what does it mean?) and welcome to the family of God! He didn’t save you to leave you where you are. Take His hand and He will lead you where you need to go…. Enjoy the journey! It’s the best this world has to offer, I promise, and it gets even better after we leave this world behind!

Hi, umerah. Thank you for reaching out today! I know that God is already at work in your life because of your confession, “I need help.” That is the first thing we all must acknowledge. And Jesus is more than willing to meet you! He loves you so much and wants to have an intimate relationship with you! In fact, He died, was buried, and rose again just so you could be saved from your sins and brought into a relationship with Him. Because of the nature of this forum, it may be a bit long to address all of your concerns, so may I suggest a wonderful website to you that you can engage in? It is peacewithgod.net. You can even do a live chat with a volunteer of the ministry. They are great with helping people find answers about faith. I am praying for you and believing that your questions will be answered and that you will come to know Christ and experience His grace and love. Please write back and let us know what the Lord is doing in your life. I am so excited for you! May the Holy Spirit continue to draw you. Grace and peace, friend!

Umerah, the website I gave (peacewithgod.net) is a safe place where you can ask anything or express any spiritual struggles that you may have. I’m confident that you will find help there. Praying for you!

Glory to God, Kim! I know that I the broke the comment guidelines by sharing the link to another website, but I didn’t know what else to do. That dear one needed to engage with someone and this forum does not lend itself to that kind of opportunity. I tried to find a link from this ministry (ODB/ODJ) to send to Umerah that would address his/her concerns, but I couldn’t find one. Do you know if there is one that I overlooked? There should be one for those who drop by…a place where they could find the answers they need. Trying to have a conversation with someone like that on this forum will not do. Comprendo? 🙂 God bless YOU, friend.
hsnpoor on August 16, 2016 at 11:44 pm
GG, I don’t think this site has anything like the link you referred Umerah to, but I think they let that link come through for a reason and the reason was good. Guidelines are just that, guide lines. Sometimes coloring outside the lines makes a beautiful composition and this was one of those times. I agree this isn’t the best forum to engage in a full on theological discussion, but I just felt lead to say something to address her issue and encourage her in some way. If she follows up and wants to discuss further, all she has to do is click on my photo & that gives my email address to further engage outside of this forum. I hope and pray that my comment was helpful to her and that your referral will propel her further toward her future in Christ and help her get answers to her pressing questions and concerns as a brand new Christian. Hope she checks back in to share her journey with us….. And tell me the meaning of that beautiful name…:)

I hope so too, Kim. If she followed the link, she should have at least gotten clarity about her salvation, which was my main concern. Her first comment was “I don’t know if I am born again.” That’s where the conversation needed to start and that website would definitely help her determine that. Thanks for weighing in on this, Kim.
