As the story goes, a man was hiking alone when he slipped and fell down a steep cliff. In desperation, he grabbed a tree limb and began shouting for help. Finally, he heard a booming voice answer, “Yes, I’m here.” The hiker was elated. “Who are you?” “It’s the Lord.” “Oh, thank you, Lord!” the hiker gasped. “What do you want me to do?” “Let go.” The terrified hiker couldn’t release the only security he thought he had, so finally he meekly asked, “Is there anyone else up there?”
Life is tough. Circumstances often seem unfair, and there are times when we feel close to death. It’s usually in the midst of these moments of desperation that God urges us to “let go” of our feeble solutions and trust Him. In 2 Corinthians 1:8-11, Paul shares an intimate account of the difficult time he had in Asia and of how he felt close to death. He also reminds his readers, however, that God is our source of comfort and that we can use our growth through trials to help others (2 Corinthians 1:3-6).
It was in the tough times that Paul learned to depend on and surrender to God’s grace rather than rely on his own wisdom (2 Corinthians 1:9-12). He traveled thousands of miles over many years—enduring difficult circumstances. Yet, through it all, he learned to be content no matter the situation (Philippians 4:11-13).
Most of us would never choose a life of suffering, but the only way we can learn patience and grow in character is by learning through difficult times (Romans 5:3-5). When we surrender to God and trust Him to carry us, we might even find peace in our final journey of this life—through that valley of the shadow of death (Psalm 23:4; James 1:2-4).
Let go and let God be your all!

MY TESTIMONY:
THROUGH THE YEARS OF TRIALS AND ADVERSITIES, I HAVE LEARNT, NOT ONLY TO HAVE FAITH AND TRUST IN OUR GOD THE FATHER-IN-HEAVEN, LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THE HOLY SPIRIT, BUT TO HOLD ON TO THEM FOR DEAR LIFE.
THEY HAULED ME OUT OF ‘BEING FORCED’ TO NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, AND SUBSEQUENT RESULT WOULD BE ‘ A CRAZY LADY AND BEING ATTACKED SPIRITUALLY IN IMH’.
ALSO, GOD HEALED ME PROGRESSIVELY OF ALL OTHER LONG TIME SICKNESSES WITH REVELATION TRUTHS TO CLEAR MY FEARFUL AND HIDDEN DOUBTS AND CONFIRMATION OF THEIR EXISTENCES….

angelina, would you agree that “perfect fear casts out all love”?
angelinatan25 on September 28, 2014 at 6:15 am
ghchong,
I don’t quite understand your meaning in the statement, “perfect fear casts out love”.
My understanding is rather, “perfect love casts out all fears”, as GOD’S LOVE TRANSCENDS ALL UNDERSTANDINGS.
Are you agreeable with is statement?

Lessons in humor, I love it. We seem to learn the hard way that to love and trust God must be our first steps. We can never be effective in God’s work unless we have learned how much he loves us and how faithful He is. We can’t reflect, until we stand in the light. Thank you for keeping our mind on His wisdom

Dearest Angela, I thank God that even in your most difficult of times, you have found hope and refuge in the One who never fails us, no matter our weaknesses and failings, He never changes and always proves Himself faithful. As you continue to surrender ‘control’ of your life, I pray you will continue to know the provision and the faithfulness of our Heavenly Father. God bless you.

Hey Gary, you’re spot on – it’s only when we genuinely surrender control to our Heavenly Father that we place ourselves in the ideal position to experience His incredible provision and faithfulness. Bless you.

I particularly like the verses from Philippians, Romans and James above. And to address Angela’s concern more directly, I suppose it is worthwhile sharing that people truly reborn in the image of Christ would avoid targeting the weak, infirm, downcast, downtrodden etc.

ghchong,
This is very true as we faithfully obey and live out our lives in accordance to HIS COMMANDMENTS OF “TO LOVE OTHERS AS ONESELF”, “NOT TO JUDGE” AND “LOVE YOUR ENEMIES” AND …….
JESUS, HIS COMMANDMENTS, TEACHINGS AND PROMISES ARE TRUE AND CAN BE PROVEN TRUE TO AS REVEALED TO ME BY GOD ABOVE, AS HE IS “THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE/ LIGHT”.

“perfect love casts out all fear” (dishonest mistake)
angelinatan25 on September 28, 2014 at 6:31 am
ghchong,
My understanding is that when one has Faith and live out “perfect LOVE OF/FROM GOD WHO IS LOVE”, one is able to live positively, eliminating all fears and obstructions….and coming out victoriously.
My Testimony is that, “the one and only fear is from ‘THE FEAR OF GOD ABOVE'”.

“born again” (honest mistake)
angelinatan25 on September 28, 2014 at 6:37 am
ghchong,
My understanding of “born again” is one who has to undergone “the sanctification process” in order to come to the point of “awakening or awareness and experience of HIS PRESENCE, TRUTHS….. and to stand firm with confidence (unwavered by doubts and ……)IN HIM AND FOR HIM.

RUTH,
Thank you for your BLESSINGS AND REMEINDER.
GOD BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY TOO, AS YOU JOURNEY WITH HIM AND DISCOVER LIFE HE MEANT FOR US ALL.

Speaking of suffering, my friend Kara Tippetts (wife and mother to 4 young kids) has terminal cancer and written a new book telling her story (The Hardest Peace). It released this week.
