Clouds of steam poured out from under the hood of my Saab hatchback. I pulled over and made a call for a tow truck. Minutes later, a man approached my car. He wasn’t from the towing company, but he said he could fix the problem. Reluctantly, I let the stranger hoist up the hood and peer underneath. He then proceeded to pour water into the car’s radiator. It worked!
I jotted down his address, intending to mail him a thank-you note with a gift. To my shame, however, I never followed through.
Jesus wasn’t thanked at all by nine of the ten men he healed from leprosy. While on His way to Jerusalem, they spotted Him and shouted, “Master, have mercy on us” (Luke 17:13). With just a simple command, Christ ended their isolation, renewed their flesh, and rescued them from certain death.
When only one of the ten returned to voice his appreciation, Jesus asked him: “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” (Luke 17:17-18). Apparently, Jesus notices thankless hearts.
Most of us shake our heads and say “tsk, tsk” as we consider the ingrates who took off after being healed. Still, as much as I want to be like the grateful one, I tend to mimic the other nine instead. My lopsided prayer life proves it—it’s heavy on requests for mercy and blessings, but light on gratitude.
If you’re like me, you may need to focus more on the Giver and less on the good things He supplies. We know that “whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father” (James 1:17). So let’s follow the example of the “one in ten” who fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet and give thanks to God today (Luke 17:16).
More:
Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim His greatness (Psalm 105:1).
Next:
Do you spend more time in prayer thanking Jesus, or making requests? What does it mean to God when we express our gratitude?

Very true sister.
How thankless we are for the mercy showered on us. He healed me from a dreaded disease without the use of medicines. And Im alive today just out of his healing touch on this ungrateful sinner.
Thank you Jesus
Thank you Father
Thank you Holy Spirit

I am thankful for all God has done for me but my difficulty is in wondering what God’s will is for me. I understand that Christ died for my sins but the difficulty for me is carrying out God’s will,in a world were quite frankly people are so blinded by their own reliious beliefs that they don’t want to know. It bothers me that I am weak at times and I want to be better able to speak in God’s favour instead of keeping my mouth shut because I am outnumbered. I must add that I have been brought up to keep my opinions to myself and do find it difficult to express myself. I am afraid I am not exactly what God needs on his side as someone outspoken is surely going to be more effective. Sorry I have went a bit off the subject here!

OH! Cuddles… do not be so hard on yourself. The way you llive your life.. treat others… deal with difficulty in your life… speaks volumes about God. My brother and his wife do not share my beliefs.. they are well educated and can put up a good argument.. trying to talk to them is like blowing into the wind. When I spend time with them, all I can do is “show” the love of Jesus and leave the rest up to HIM. You will be amazed… people are watching and they will see the difference in your life. Bless you.. you are a child of the King, he knows your heart and he loves you unconditionally.

Cuddles… I often feel frustrated that I do not speak out when I should, I am shy and reserved and wish that I could be more extrovert and able to offer my thoughts or opinion on any particular subject. However, when I begin to think like this I am often guided to Scripture, God created me as I am, He knows my inmost parts, He Loves me as I am and Jesus died for me and from my past I feel as if I am the Chief of sinners. I thank God what He has done for me thus far and I pray He will work in your life as He is in mine. At present things are not easy but I have no doubt God is doing something with this piece of clay and hopefully one day he will use me.
